there's something both a little sad to me & a little adorable about birds doing this.
my aunt had a cockatiel when i was a kid who lived in the kitchen of her house & learned, as any respectable kitchen denizen would, that people would come to investigate if the microwave beeped, or if the bird beeped just like the microwave. :)

my old bosses at the bird feeder store had two parrots, and two dogs.
intelligence left idle leads to evil.
parrots are very intelligent. caged birds are generally idle, and bored.
these parrots would call the dogs into the room in the voices of the owners. the cages were on opposite ends of the room, and the parrots would call the dogs from one side to the other. the dogs, being dogs, believed their ears, and ran back and forth, all the while getting more frenzied and confused. eventually, they'd stop near one of the cages... and the parrot would reach out and nip 'em in the rear.
i wonder how many mockingbirds have picked it up by now... i know i heard one doing that same alarm out in amherst when visiting my sister at school there.
