Restaurant service in Sydney must be the worst in the world. I had thought Paris would be the winner; French waiters live up to their stereotype and provide service with a level of disdain that suggests you are insulting the food by eating in their city. French waiters however at least acknowledge your inconvenient presence at the table. For

On the other side of things, several times I've heard Australians complaining that American waiters are always coming by to interrupt and rush you, and not letting you sit and enjoy the food and scenery in a leisurely fashion. When I was in Sydney last summer and in no hurry I didn't notice anything amiss about the service, but when Shawn joined me later he had plenty of things to say about it.
