First off, Santa Cruz is still leading the anti-war movement. We are so cool.

Now on to the tofu-based fake meat of the entry:

I need a place to live next year. All my friends who I currently live with are living on campus, and I can't afford to/don't want to. So I thought maybe you, my friends, know some folks looking for someone nice to fill a ( Read more... )

I'd live with you if we were in the same college. Then I could peruse your book collection, you'd suggest something, I'd ask to borrow it, end up going through like 1/5 of it.. which reminds me...

If you're living off campus, college doesn't matter. And yes, whoever I live with gets full access to my vast library.

Search for "community rentals" on UCSC main webpage (the little search engine boxy thing on the right). It'll give you the office that deals with off-campus rentals, and lists rentals available. Be sure to check dates, take a responsible friend with you who's rented off campus before, etc etc etc.

I should know, I'm doing the same thing. heh

Is the "take a responsible friend" line because it's me?

In the past half hour I've grown to hate this website. It has lots of housing listings, but it doesn't seem to want to let me look at other people to room with.

No, it's because it's a really really good thing to do. I'm taking someone with me, because I'm afraid I'm going to forget to ask something vital and/or potentially be ax-murdered by some creepy person.

I don't think you can look at potential roommates. That's something you'd do through roommate-looking boards (something like that) BUT I think that office would have info on where to go to look at that.
