Movies... My favorites.

Top 5 favorite movies in order:
1. Harold and Maude - The only film to make me cry. Multiple times. A perfect love story, showing how love is blind, it does not obey any laws we as a society command of it. The acting is amazing. The details are awesome. The manner in which Harold deals with his problems is something I can somewhat relate to despite never being in that situation.

2. Baraka - Really this is tied for first. It narrowly looses to H&M but regardless it is one of the most stunning films I have ever seen. The best cinematography I've ever seen. This film is the only one to have ever truly made me scared. This is due mainly because of how they capture the horrors that exist in the real world. The horror of faces of genocide victims. The vacant rooms of places built to mass murder humans. The film tho really is a grounding film. It shows the wonders of the world and the beauty we have created and that naturally exists around us. The choices of location both near and far prime me for wanting to seek out adventure. They also move me to joy and flood my mind with fascination.

3.Aliens - The finest scifi horror film ever made. Wonderful scifi, a fascinating and very very realistic universe. It contains creatures that are very believable, cross between a virus and an insect. The creatures are frightening and at the same time they are seductive beyond words. Their form captures the odd line between something truly lethal and sensual. It is also a great movie in which things go from bad to worse to worse and only near the end does the light at the end of the tunnel become apparent.

4. The Princess Bride - Flawless fairy-tale. It has the best fight scene in any movie. It has the most passionate kiss and well, not much else to say but perfect. Enjoyable to watch over and over.

5. The Fifth Element - Over the top, awesome scifi. The art direction is amazing, slipping by you until you watch it enough to notice the homogeneity of the colors in the scenes. The dialogue is awesome, characters unbelievably unique but believable in their actions. The action is wonderful, keeping me on the edge of my seat. One of the best chase scene in any film, set to an unexpected but perfect chase theme. (does anyone have that reggae song?). The best villain ever... 'My favorite.'

5 Runners up:
The Mummy - I've never watched a movie more times than this one. Tons of fun, light hearted adventure! I adore adventure films!
Dog Soldiers - It has everything I love, werewolves, Land Rovers, British folks, explosions, MP5s and werewolves. The best running fire fight on film. Wonderful tale of survival or the lack thereof. It would be #1 if it wasn't for something that I can't quite put my finger on.. it is missing something.
Black Hawk Down - Horrors of modern combat, hopeless situations and valor in the face of impossible odds. Scary because it was a real story.
Vanishing Point - Best car chase movie. Why does it belong here? It shows that despite the 'hero' being quite unlikely it also shows him as very human. It is a 70s film and it shows but it still has the most exciting chases scenes in any movie, only the chase scene in Bullit being a tiny bit better because there was no music, just the melodies of the engine, tires and road.

Now I'm sure I've forgotten a few but over the course of a day thinking about them this is what I came up with. I might do another top 5 list of movies again later just to see how the list changes with my changing situation.
