Life is full of having to move on from things and places and people, and my own life has been characterized by a lot of not wanting to do that. So I guess it's good that it's starting early for this particular moving on stage of my life. And I guess, when I'm honest, I'm ready to move on from some of the struggles in this place. If you went to Africa or anywhere else, in an attempt to "do good", but your heart wasn't in it, then you'd be so miserable you wouldn't help anyone, so what would be the point?

You don't want to end up like Charlotte, even if she is hawt.

You can't get down on yourself for self discovery and change. Even if you do trust that there is a divine purpose, sometimes you just have to be the catalyst.

there is plenty of good to be done and ways to give that are not in africa. they're in LA and rural areas and even affluent suburbs. we all change. i spent my whole life saying i wanted to stay close to south bend, so how do i explain to my mom, myself, or anyone else that i'm now seriously considering international service? you should follow your life where it takes you, if we all tried to be what we wanted to be 15 years ago there'd be a hell of a lot of ballerinas and astronauts in the world ( ... )
