Why is it so dry here?

I was ready for the heat.  I lived in the valley for 4 years, I know hot.  Not ready for the dry.  The first thing I do every time I wake up is grab a drink of water.  When I walk outside the first breath of air seriously sucks all of the moisture out of my mouth.  Aridity is the suck.  Luckily I don't pay for electricity.  My AC has been on for

yeah, i curse the valley double-fold every time i'm there in the summer.

Arizona way worse to me than the valley. I don't understand why people say a dry heat's not as bad. I need moisture.
