Thank you FedEx...

Leigh and I ordered a couple costumes for this month and FedEx was kind enough to deliver them today.  The thing is though we were naturally not at home due to school & work.  I received an email about the attempt being made and was told to contact them to reschedule a delivery.  So that's what I did...

Talk about being inconvenient...

To be fair, FedEx doesn't really care about residential deliveries - they make their money off of business services. The fact that they will bring shit to your house is, in reality, simply a marketing technique designed to keep their brand in the common marketplace.

Whenever i'm expecting deliveries in this fashion, i always put my workplace as the delivery address - that way i'll, you know, actually be there to receive it. Unfortunately, given the nature of your employer, i don't know how receptive they would be; however, it doesn't hurt to ask.

Ya I've already asked a while back and they weren't too keen on the idea.

Oh well, c'est la vie...

Just chat up whoever's working the front desk over a break and ask them to fire you an email when it gets in. All salaried employees at Archway do this, and I think even as a GL I did this a couple times. Tell them it's a one-time occurrence or something. Usually the person at the front desk can sign for things like that too.

It sucks. What sucks more is when you don't know if the parcel is going to come ups or regular mail.

I just gave up and ship everything to work now. However one time, ups kept delivering to my work, after 5.30 when the office was closed..

I'm with you, in a way, that I wish they had hours outside of the normal business run, but as Frosty says, they don't really care. :P

However, I think it is rather shitty that their depot is out by the airport and not more centrally located. Whenever possible I try to get things shipped through regular post, rather than through the courier services, so that I at least know that if I'm not home to recieve it, I can just go to the local post office; consequently, if I'm buying shit off Ebay, I generally try to request that they just ship through regular US/Canada Post unless I need it immediatly.

ahhh fedex is AWFUL!!!

i thought ups was a pain to deal with until i had a package come from fedex...ups is nothing compared to the BS that is fedex! although ups can't always guarantee a delivery time, they will deliver to alternate addresses for you and their customer service reps seem a lot more competent than fedex's!
