One of our kitties is sick...but which one???

Leigh and I have been finding kitty vomit around the apartment on a regular basis for the last....while.  It seems to happen either during the night or in the morning.  But rarely (if ever) during the day or evening...makes no sense.  The vomit has just about always been filled with dry cat food, sometimes completely unchewed ( Read more... )

I wouldn't worry about it unless there is anything odd about the vomit (weird oolour or blood). Webster for instance has a sensitive stomach. Also I noticed he gets sick if we use lower quality cat food with more filler (read: cheap stuff if we're broke). *shrug*

Performatrin from Pet Value doesn't make him sick.. but it's different for every cat. There is also sensitive stomach stuff but maybe just ask your vet? I don't think it's necessary to bring the cat in, it's probably not serious.

So you recommend another food switch?

We're gonna have a ton of catfood in our place. I wonder what it tastes like with milk...

We use Performatrin for our cats. Akasha (our newest kitty) had alot of tummy problems when the humane society had her and when we first got her. She was so used to eating garbage that she couldnt handle cat food. We were giving her the Iams the the humane society was givin her for a little bit but she was really pukey and stinky so we started to give her the Performatrin that we give Swiper (our older fat cat who also had tummy problems when we first got him from the humane society) and she hasnt had any problems since.
I love that stuff. All my cats have had it and they have all done great on it.
I had a male cat who got a UTI due to cheap food and the vet suggested that any male cat we ever owned to make sure he eats Performatrin.
Try it out.. Its good stuff, just sucks that you can only get it at Pet Valu.

Yay Performatrin!

Btw: are you giving cats *real* milk? Many cats are actually lactose intolerant.

Sam throws up all the time too - What helps is cat food with bigger kibbles - it forces them to chew it.

That said, I haven't see the big-kibble cat foot at the petfood store for a long time now, so we've put him on a geriatric for cats with sensitive tummies.

Go to Pet Value and ask them if they have recommendations.

and even still - Sam still pukes... (it has something to do with him licking Moe all the time, I'm sure of it).... we've kind of learned to live with it.

I agree with Jen. Maybe your cats are just inhaling the food and by doing that, it can make them sick. Call your vet or go to Pet Value to see if they have any recommendations for larger kibble food.

Reading Jamie's comment I realize that I totally forgot what I was talking about. ROYAL CANIN is what we get them, Performatrin is what we USED TO feed them. Performatin recently changed their receipe (in wet food for sure, not sure about dry) and the cats didn't like it anymore. Royal Canin has always been great, and that's what we're currently feeding them with a mix of cheaper stuff b/c we're broke. :P
