First, and most importantly, yes, my family is fine. We've been tremendously lucky in a number of different ways, including the fact that my uncle -- the most badass person I know, without exaggeration -- is in Cairo right now on extended business and is thus able to take care of my grandmother. Thank you for this update.
I hope things get operating again well enough that at least food can be restocked, the port can resume shipping containers out, and trucks can make deliveries again. I'm all for protests, but I want things to run well enough that people don't risk starving.

Glad to hear your family is OK, and glad to hear there is a lot of hope for Egypt. My (uninformed) opinion on the situation turns out to be very close to yours, and I appreciate your elaboration and knowledge on things.
