Hi, lovely piece. I loved the statement Beckett's therapist made to her. By the way, could I ask you who is in the picture of your avatar above this story, the blond lady standing next to the green color map with something in her mouth? She looks familiar but I can't place her. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Seriously, this is beautiful; just the right amount of forward momentum but still acknowledging the obstacles still to overcome. I think your Beckett voice is absolutely spot-on, so bravo.
Also, this: The ghosts of words she’d uttered earlier in the year - that before time, that time where it was so much easier to hide in pretending, letting the maybe moments trail off while they picked up the joking or the teasing, things that were less threatening, less teetering on the edge of something than she feels now - come back to her." Step over my corpse, 'cause you just killed me with that line.
Ridiculously, deliciously good. Thanks for another great read.
Wonderful. See, it would be great if TPTB managed what you do so effortlessly here - push the boundaries but maintain the tension. Plus favourite characters + alcohol is always a winning combination in my book.
Two additional things: Yay for actual TV writing and I say you revisit this Ryan/Beckett business. It's been running around in my brain lately and I think you're onto something.
That Ryan-centric episode the other week had me shipping them like mad, seriously. I was so irritated that I couldn't write a post-ep/insert fic for them the first go around but maybe I can give it another try??? I'm glad you liked this fic too, though, you pointed out exactly the kind of thing I wanted to achieve :)
I've always kind of liked the different dynamics between Ryan/Beckett and Beckett/Esposito, and after too many years in fandom I can ship pretty much anything, but after that episode, I agree, it was kicked up two hundred notches. Do give it another whirl sometime. :)
