Hello! Hello!

Nov 25, 2009 11:45

Hello! I've been lurking for a while and thought it was time to introduce myself and show off my current projects. I have really enjoyed and been inspired by all the projects I've seen posted here (both finished and in progress). Everyone does such wonderful work!

I learned to stitch *mumble* years ago in junior high home ec, but only did it in fits and starts until recently. My job is very stressful right now, and cross stitching is (usually) a good antidote for that. If you click through any of the pictures, you'll reach my flikr stream, where some of my completed projects are. Unfortunately, I don't have pictures of many of them that I've given away. I am endeavoring to remedy that by finishing more projects and getting pictures of those. :)

America, Land that We Love by Jean Farish

As of 11 Oct 2009

This is a freebie series I printed off several years ago. I wish I had had a pdf writer, or saved the pages, because all I have are fading color prints and her website seems to have disappeared. I don't know how many hours of stitching this is, other than "a bunch". The individual states take 1-2 evenings each, depending on complexity. I consider this my BAP, and the back-up for when I get tired of other projects. It's stitched two over one on, uh, 18 ct(?) ivory aida. The photo makes the fabric look a lot darker than it is, but the thread colors are pretty close to true.

Katzen by Kirsten Schmidt

As of 24 Nov 2009

A freebie from Kirsten Schmidt (pattern here). I am rearranging the motifs, and splitting the pattern into two pieces. The current plan is to make a pair of pillows for my mom. This is about 3 hours of work (I'm working on it during lunch at work). This one is stitched three over one on tan 14 ct. aida.

Heirloom Stocking: Home for Christmas

The goal.

As of 24 Nov 2009

I am making this for my step-grandfather. I have a deadline of the weekend before Christmas to get it completely finished if I want to give it to him this year. I remain cautiously optimistic that I will succeed. It is from this collection of the Heirloom Christmas Stockings originally published in Cross-Stitch & Country Crafts. This is about 20-ish hours of work. It's stitched two over two on mushroom 28 ct monoco.
