Justice at last

Apr 07, 2005 16:02

The time had finally come. Justine would be here any moment with the child and at that moment I would have my final justice against Angelus. Yes, he was still Angelus in my eyes. I think I checked my watch every thirty seconds. Was I worried? It wasn't exactly a feeling that I'd felt a lot of lately, but I think I was. Over which part? Maybe it was that something had gone terribly wrong and that Justine wouldn't be showing up here anytime soon ( ... )

His eyes cut right through me. There was confusion in there somewhere beneath all that frustration and anger. There was loss twined in between the glances of hope. All the hope that he had for starting over, for making something out of this second chance he had been give I had lost. He moved toward me tensing up a bit I saw his shoulders shift into a offensive position. I wanted to back away, to trip over my own feet if I had to. Just to avoid his stare.

"Justine. Where is the child?"

The words were there. In the back of my throat. Stuck to the my tongue, trapped in my mind unwilling to break free.

He is with Wesley...

"Where is Steven?"He was only a foot or two in front of me, but I could swear I could feel his breath on me as if he was breathing down my neck. His fists were tight clenched at his side. I wanted to look away from him. I wanted to do so many things but I knew there wasn't time for anything. No time to think of a lie, no time to pause for a moment ( ... )

"He- he's with Wesley. I found him running from Angelus with the infan- with Steven. I tried to stop him, I tried to get Steven for you- for us, but Wesley was determined. He had a gun, Daniel."Instead of narrowing, my eyes widened as she spoke. It was obvious she wasn't lying. Besides, she knew better than to lie to me about this. It meant too much - so much that I thought I could trust her with the mission. The mission that I was supposed to have my justice against Angelus ( ... )
