Paige woke up and rolled over to watch him sleeping, it was his last day, they were sending him back to his own time, his own life. She couldn’t keep one of the most famous poets in the world here. It would affect history, he’d never write his best works and that wasn’t really fair on anyone. It was just a shame she loved him so much. Softly she ran her fingers through his hair and smiled slightly as he opened his eyes. “Good morning my lady,” he said quietly as he stretched out in their bed before rolling in her direction to kiss her gently.
She pushed her whole body into the kiss and wrapped her arms around him, “Is it?” she asked softly against his lips.
He frowned, “well no I don’t suppose it is, is it, but it sounds better than, ‘the most terrible morning I’ve ever woken up to, my lady,’ doesn’t it?”
Paige nodded, “and of course the way things sound is the most important thing isn’t it?” she asked a little angrily.
He stroked her cheek softly, “I don’t like this anymore than you do my love, I feel as though my heart will just cease to beat without you, but we’re affecting history by my being here.”
She signed, he was right, she already knew that, but it didn’t make it any easier on her. Sometimes as much as she hated to admit it she really disliked being so selfless, giving up everything she loved to be a Charmed One, it was just so tiring. She loved protecting innocents, just like her sisters did, but sometimes she just wanted a little give and take.
“Perhaps?” he started to speak then stopped abruptly.
She looked into his eyes, her own almost pleading, begging him to say it, to hold on to her and stay with her, to give her something more to fight for, “Perhaps what?”
He shook his head and kissed her again passionately, running his hands over her soft skin, he couldn’t say, ‘perhaps you could come with me,’ because he already knew what she’d say. The sisters put being Charmed Ones ahead of everything else in their lives and it saddened him to know that, to know Paige would never have everything she wanted and deserved.
She wound her legs around him and ended the kiss, “I’ll never forget you Geoff, and I’ll never stop loving you,” she told him as a tear rolled down her cheek.
“I’ll never stop loving you either my love, the pale moon’s beauty will remind me of you every night as will the glow of the sun every dawn.” he twisted strands of her hair round his finger and smiled, “I could never forgot such beauty and such passion. I promise I’ll think of you every day.”
She smiled just a little at that, “so will I my little poet, I‘ll never write another spell without thinking of my muse” she replied pulling him to her as there was a knock at the bedroom door.

“We need you both downstairs as soon as possible,” Leo called, “your sisters are getting everything ready.”
Geoff sighed heavily and got out of the bed to pull on his pants as Paige watched him, “I can’t believe our time’s up already, it’s gone so quick.” she said
He nodded in agreement as he pulled his tunic over his head, “we’ve been happy for six months my lady, it’s more than some people get.” he replied crossing the room to crouch beside her.
She just gazed at him for a moment as he pulled her gently out of the bed holding her naked body against him.
“You said something about me being important in feminism didn’t you?” he asked bending his head to kiss her neck.
She smiled, following his train of thought, “I know what you’re getting at Geoff, you think if I don’t let you leave now we won’t exist, the Charmed Ones, women will never being independent like they are now.”
“It’s only a theory,” he replied stepping away so she could dress.

A few minutes later they walked very slowly down the stairs of the Manor and into the kitchen where Phoebe and Piper were putting the finishing touches to the potion to send Geoff back to the fourteenth century.
Piper stopped what she was doing immediately and went to hug Paige, “I’m really sorry we have to do this sweetie, I know how hard it is.”
Paige forced a smile, “we do what we have to right? For the greater good” it didn’t mean she had to like it though.
Piper just nodded, “do you want us to give you a moment before you come up to the attic?”
There were tears in Paige’s eyes again, “yeah thanks, sis. We’ll be up soon, I promise, you won’t have to come drag us up there.”
Geoff gave Piper an appreciative smile as the three of them went up to the attic to open the portal back to where Geoff had been summoned from.
She looked up at him trying desperately not to cry and smiled, he was the most amazing person she’d ever met, the most beautiful too and the thought that she’d never be held by him again tore her apart.
“and as my lover gazed at me I knew how true love felt,” he told her softly as he picked her off the floor and cradled her in his arms. “You’ll be okay Paige, you’re the toughest woman I’ve ever met, you and your sisters. They’ll be here for you, when I leave.”
She knew he was right but it didn’t make this moment any easier, this was it, the end and as he carried her up to the attic she felt her heart breaking into pieces so tiny she couldn’t even feel them anymore.
