Trying an experiment this week, with my money. I use my check card a lot, and seem to believe that frees me to use my money for other things. Or something. It's invisible, that's the problem, so I decided I needed to SEE my money disappear

Hey whatever works. Personally I'm worse when I have too much cash. I tend to be better using my card...and saving the cash for that myriad of little things that come up at school like baby showers.

(Also I will return things to Kohl's before that bill arrives. But not the cashmere v-neck raspberry sweater. I wore that already, it is teh sexxay, and it was only #17.)

My parents have been using this method for years and years, and it works well for them. My father, whenever he buys anything big, saves the cash first, then he charges the purchase and gives my mother the cash to pay the credit card bill. Good luck with budgeting!
