Well... I'm behind in the homegame for therealljidol... and I'm lazy and don't want to write like 5 different entries right now to catch up. so instead you're going to get a medley of topics: 5 (Open), 7(Hope) and 8(Ranting). :)
Ok, remember how I said I could really care less about most people and organizations because people will be people? Well, I might as well put my foot in my mouth right now. I'm beyond pissed.
Simmons College has been in the local news quite a bit lately for the resurgence of hate crimes this year: see this and this.
I pride myself in being really openminded. I wore a headscarf and purple... I've been wearing my I AM shirt from coming out day around school. I'm planning on dressing in drag next Tuesday... I'm pissed about everything. Simmons College prides itself on principled leadership and diversity and this just turns things upside down. I want this school to keep a good reputation. I'm tired of being afraid. I live on campus. Someone wrote something on my whiteboard and the whiteboard of my best friend.
I'm tired of this. I want this to end. I want a rest. I'm tired of fighting. But, no one can stop until the voices are heard. It's painful stuff. I want this to end so much. I'm a dreamer. I'll always be a dreamer, but I hate it when dreams darken in despair.
I hope our voices are heard. I hope people learn their lessons. I hope change will come. I hope that one day we won't need to wear pins and varying colors just to say we're one body.
