Fortunately, Tony didn't have too long to wait on his own. Jack and Dairine had met up at the castle door and set off immediately to find Tony, not wanting to leave him alone any longer than necessary. As they walked, they had talked urgently but had realised they need to talk to Tony - and to see him with their own eyes - before they could have any real idea of how to handle this situation.

So they walked fast, and before long Jack caught sight of Tony's definitely human form leaning against a tree at the edge of the forest. He had to admit that the sight was something of a relief.

"Tony," he said urgently, approaching the other man quickly but stopping warily a good few feet away. "How are you?"

Tony straightened up as they got close. He was so very glad to see him but his matter stayed cool, he didn't move towards them. He didn't fail to see their caution. It stung a little but he hid that too.
He smiled warmly at Dairine. "It's OK guys. I'm not going to bite you so you can look disappointed Jack." He gave a thin smile.

"I feel OK now. I don't know how but there seems no lasting damage. As for what to do now I have to idea." His mask slipped a little and the fear behind his eyes showed for a moment. "So, any ideas?"

Dairine was embarrassed about it, but she hung back by Jack's side when he stopped. She was just being safe, really. She didn't think there was any danger--any immediate danger--but just in case...

"We should first go over exactly what happened," Dairine said. She firmly believed in thoroughly researching a problem before moving forward. "Maybe we can find the start to some answers there."

Jack was well aware how their staying back must make Tony feel, but for Dairine's sake it had to be done. He was here to keep her safe, after all, and he wasn't going to put her in danger if he could help it.

He gave Tony a rueful smile. "She's right, you know. She's got a good head on her shoulders, this one." He folded his arms across his chest. "How about you tell us what happened, in full this time."
