The sound of whirling blades is unexpectedly cut short...

It has been several days since you last heard the sound of a helicopter’s blades whirling overhead, and as such, when you hear the tell-tale noise somewhere overhead, it is, for a few moments, like a return to routine, as you wonder what poor unfortunate is about to be stranded here next, and whether or not this one will last, or unceremoniously vanish as so many have before them.

This return to routine, however, is interrupted mere moments later along with the sounds of the vehicle’s engines itself, as with a flash of light, the sky above the castle grounds is filled with the sound of an explosion and the shrieking of torn metal. The chopper begins an agonizingly long spiral downwards towards the ground below, its pilot trying and failing to right its wild trajectory, which sends the craft careening into the village and its many uninhabited buildings.

The resulting impact can be heard clearly across the castle grounds, as one of the many small homes is reduced to rubble and splinters, the helicopter itself catching fire as it comes to rest, a twisted wreckage, half-buried by shattered timbers.

Inside of the cockpit, the unfortunate passenger’s time as a prisoner of the castle has come to a premature end. The windshield’s shattered glass has sent a shard flying towards his neck, severing his carotid artery, causing him to bleed out before the first witness can possibly arrive. He lays slumped forwards in his seat, dressed in the fashion of an 11th century nobleman, a lengthy scroll case clutched in his deathly grip.

In the seat next to him, however, the pilot of the vehicle has been somewhat more fortunate. Though grievously wounded, with a metal beam punched through his left leg just above his knee and rendered unconscious, he has survived the crash... for the moment. The fire is spreading, however, and his blood loss is considerable. Though not the only pilot ever to have come here, he is one of only a few. He may even have been the one who brought YOU here...
