The stuff that Livejournal ISN'T talking about

Check this out...

You think crossposting stuff to FaceTwit is bad? That's not even the BEGINNING of what LJ is doing.

Basically it looks like a function that allows you to "share" other people's entries not just on FaceTwit, but on a ton of other services, including Digg, Bebo, AIM Share, and Fark.

Thought it couldn't get any worse? So did I.

Oh good grief, it just gets worse and worse. D:

I really should just move to DreamWidth. The only thing stopping me is that there are LJ comms that I enjoy. So... IDK.

That particular function has been there for months. It's not a function that comes from LiveJournal itself, but rather from Google.

I see it on 95% of the blogs I visit on the Internet (LJ, Blogger and WordPress all have it), and it does not appear on entries that are friends-locked (I just checked on my own journal and the "Share This!" button is not present on any of my f-locked posts).

It seems that there have been an overwhelming number of complaints about this - LJ just made the announcement that any entries that are 'friends locked' (and their comments), will no longer be shared, once the next upgrade has been made. Just change your settings so that all of your entries are 'friends locked', and you should be safe. (Once you change the setting, entries are automatically locked, unless you over-ride it).

All my entries for the past year have been 'friends locked' and I've noticed that it eliminated comments from non-friends - only those I have approved can read my journal. I like that.
