It's nice to see Julian's emotions from the girl's point of view, especially with her not quite understanding what warrants those feelings... It's an interesting position, as a reader, to know have more insight into the story than the narrator. I definitely liked it.

And one just has to love the conversation with Garak - so many layers! So much lace! The more underskirts, the better!

The conversation between Tella and Garak is delicious. I love how Garak's choice of fabric screams "yes, I know what he looks like, and I was there first." It would be a hoot to see Julian's reaction when he finds out what that dress is supposed to look like.

I'm really glad that Julian gets a confidant. Tella is perfect because she gracefully accepts that her can't love her and she is truly neutral: not Starfleet, not Bajoran, not Cardassian. She can listen to Julian and not have her own motives when giving advice.

One quick question: what did you mean by the line "Neither of her parents' species were telepaths"? If she's Betazoid, then one of her parents was telepathic, right?
