Fic bits: female!Bashir/Garak, R (at least)

So I've been in and out of bed a lot these past few days, feeling just awful, but all that time lying down unable to sleep has given me an opportunity to start fleshing out a fic idea for female!Bashir/Garak. It has some dialogue that I'm rather proud of

I'm liking female!Bashir a lot, because he's such a ladies man and it's truly mindblowing for him to be on the other side of the equation, not to mention finding him(her?)self absolutely in lust with Garak. But of course he must investigate all the possibilities... FOR SCIENCE! *cough*

Garak, of course, is showing no trace of his honest reaction, which is best summed up as: 0_o. In the course of the last couple of years he's come to the conclusion that Starfleet officers must take an oath to do at least one incredible thing before breakfast each day, or at least to accept things like unexpected transporter-related sex changes as part of their standard duties.

He finds female!Bashir quite yummy, but of course he's always found Bashir quite yummy, so there's not much of a change there. And he can see that she's smitten with him the second she enters his shop, but decides that he's not going to try anything with her unless she makes a move first. His lunches with Bashir are really the one bright spot in an otherwise dreary existence and he's not about to risk losing them by making a pass.

I recently had a similar (in the broadest sense of the word) idea, but I am not sure how I would do it. As it is quite complicated. Hmmm. Looking forward to more, and hope you get to feeling better soon.

Though if fun ideas are uncovered by the mind of the sicky...then it makes it all very confusing. But I suppose you will be better able to think of this fun idea when you are well as well.

He hasn't thought that far. The Nevidians are fairly sure they can reverse the process, so Bashir isn't makign any long-term plans to have a vagina. Garak would vote for "Julia" -- it's the closest to his original name and it trips lightly off the tongue.

As I noted in a comment above, Garak finds female!Julian quite yummy and can see that she's smitten with him, but he's not about to make a move on her for fear of jeapordizing their existing relationship. Once she does indicate her interest, however... oh, does he flirt. Bashir scarcely knows what hit him. I think the term "swept off her feet" certainly applies

To be fair, sex change operations do not seem to horribly difficult several hundred years in the future. Julian changes Quark into a woman in 'Profit and Lace.' The procedure certainly would not be too difficult. It seemed to have been admirably accomplished in a day or two.

It would be so funny if Julian pulled some fun trick on Garak as well. Flirting with him in the shop...little slut. Love Female!Julian.

If Garak is feeling benevolent, he should give her a HUG! Maybe a few others flirt with Julian and Garak gives them the impression that they might find themselves on the blown out an airlock if they come near his Julia.

*nods* I'm proceeding on the assumption that sex change operations are readily available (with in-depth counselling), but since Julian's never looked for this sort of experience it's intensely strange and disorienting. He's sure that he doesn't want to go on being a woman if he can help it, because really so much of his identity is tied up in his masculinity (mind-blowing f/m sex with Garak notwithstanding).

Another thing he's sure about is that once he's male again he wants to give sex with Garak another try. Garak's proven to be a skilled and generous lover, and some of the things he's promised to do to Julian once Julian has a cock again are... wow. It's certainly worth exploring, and he's starting to see Garak's point about being attracted so someone regardless of their sexual equipment.

I haven't seen much genderswapping either. It's far overdue, IMO. :)

And I'm glad you like what I've got so far. It's nice to have a chance to play with Garak's pansexuality (which is actually canon, at least insofar as Andrew Robinson has stated that he deliberately played him that way), and the idea that he'll take Bashir however he can get him/her.

I also enjoy handling a situation where the dynamic between them is rather gentle and tender. I've written them both ways -- warm and loving, and passionate and savage -- and each has its advantages. That's one of the beauties of the pairing: they can sustain both interpretations.

Oooh, genderswap! I've been turning around a genderswapped!Julian idea in my head for a few weeks, so I'm very excited to see you working in this genre. I love het as well as slash, but it's a rarer thing to find in fanfiction, so it's quite a treat!

You paint a very convincing version of gentler Garak: it makes sense that he would have a different approach to a female. I did think it very funny that Garak would be shagging girl!Julian while talking to her about how hot he always found Original!Boy!Julian.

And I can't WAIT to see Miles' reaction to turning female! Julian already has a very feminine vibe, but Miles...
