There will come a time, somewhere in the future, when the jaw will be totally fixed and healed and paid for and life will open up. You will chew and talk without difficulty. Your brain will not have this huge elephant-in-the-room in there contantly drawing your eyes from every other thought.

It's been, what, 5 years (more?) since you found out what was needed to fix your problem. I am proud of you for pushing forward and continuing the quest for a solution. I am happy that you are not alone with the burden. We are all there for you, doing what we can, waiting to see if more is needed.

Wow, life without the "jaw problem." It's waiting for you. You are struggling so hard to get there. You will. And... *hugs*

I stumbled on your post from google after searching "how to get orthognathic surgery approved by your insurance" because, unfortunately, I am in the same boat as you! My insurance company has denied my claim at least 3 times over the course of the last year and I will be paying for it myself. I am scheduled for surgery Dec 15th, and I wanted to encourage you with some things that reduced some of the costs for me....talk with your surgeon about a cash discount. This may reduce your costs in the ballpark of 15%. My OS also applied to CareCredit for me (it's an interest free for one year healthcare payment program that will help me spread out the costs instead of paying in one lump sum.) Contact the hospital you'll be at - they may have some sort of scholarship or income-based program to cover some or all of your costs there. And keep fighting with your insurance company! Hang in there - and just think how much you'll love eating again when this is all over with! :)
