In lieu of actual book reviews, which require thought, here's my monthly list of books read. But because of Labor Day, I have some extra time off after Thursday, and I hope to do some short reviews and also come up with a genre system, because I've been making it up as I go along and it's so totally not consistent. For example, what do I call these

I dragged my feet, too, at first. In fact, I think I put The Passage on my list because of people on my friends list raving about it on Goodreads, and then I was like, "Vampires? Really?". But I do appreciate real horror vampires and not romantic ones, and I like "end of the world" stories, so I got sucked into the novel quickly. I faltered a couple times because the storyline kept branching into new directions and people kept splitting up, but each section was absorbing in its own right. I do think the first sections of the book, leading up to and during the vamp apocalypse, was the best part.
