Books I am dying to read, 2011 edition

Nov 26, 2010 20:49

As always, my to-read list is in the 700s on Goodreads, but here are some that I'm most looking forward to in 2011, the ones I will drop everything to read (assuming I don't have deadlines on my professional reading, which will be picking up thanks to the Morris Award committee around February). They're not quite in order of SQUEE!ment, but close ( Read more... )

Oh man, BITTERBLUE. I cannot wait! :)

I have to start on Holly Black's new series and the Demon's Lexicon series. From what I've seen, I think I'll like them.

My must read list for 2011 has five books in common with your list (Red Glove, Bitterblue, The Demon's Surrender, Naamah's Blessing, and Deadline).

I felt the same way about The Demon's Covenant as you (I'm just not a big Mae fan), but I read the first chapter of The Demon's Surrender on Sarah Rees Brennan's blog, and now I am on tenterhooks because that first chapter is amazing. It shot straight to the top of my list.

I'm just now reading Eon: Dragoneye Reborn! Seems promising so far. I'm glad to know you can vouch for the book being a good one.

Other books on my list include (but are not limited to): Mastiff by Tamora Pierce, Uncommon Criminals by Ally Carter, Trial By Fire by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, Heartless by Gail Carriger, and Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare. 2011 looks like it'll be a good year, especially for YA!

I definitely will have to read most of the ones you name, as well (I need to catch up on the Pierce series and the Carriger series first, and I haven't read any of the Barnes).

I didn't read the first chapter of The Demon's Covenant because I am saving myself (hah!), but I'm glad to know it has promise.

I really loved Eon, but I had a quibble with one thing that happens near the end. It disgruntled me, and I go into it in a big way in my review on LJ, so you should read my review after the book and see what you think. I'm not sure if I'm alone in being bugged. It's here: http://crowinator.livejournal.com/24009.html, but don't read it until you've finished the book because I do go into major spoilers.

Is BItterblue really coming out in 2011? That would be awesome but I follow Kristin's blog and I didn't think she was even done with the book yet.

I didn't know that -- I was going by what it said on Goodreads. It just says "2011", so it's possible the date is tentative, or fake, since it's not that specific. It's definitely not listed anywhere official, like where I order books from my library. Still, maybe we'll get lucky. It could be the end of 2011, too, which is so far from now....

Yeah, and publishers often get sequels turned around fast. Fingers crossed it comes out in 2011!
