What do people normally do here for birthdays? Are normal parties okay or is it better to go somewhere?

It was my friend's birthday recently but we just had a small party for him at our cottage.

What kinds of things did you do?

Nothing too much. We just had cake, ice cream, and a couple of drinks.

Would it be strange to have a small dance at that kind of party?

Well, we were just three people so we didn't really dance but don't think there's anything wrong having a dance if you're planning a party.
