Super In-depth history on Allen here! [ Personality ] :
~*~Spoiler Alert, boys and girls~*~
Allen Walker’s life started out rough and with tragedy. Allen started his life as a complete outcast. He was orphaned due to his left arm being completely red and deformed, hence earning him the name ‘Red’. Little was it known at the time that this red arm was the catalyst for his Innocence. Red worked hard labor with a traveling circus, and showed great disdain for any and all. He was bitter, calloused, rude, even swore at nearly anyone who so much as looked at him. It was only after connecting with his adoptive father, Mana Walker, that Red began to change. He adopted the name Allen, after Mana’s beloved dead dog, and became much more personable. He becomes much more polite, smiles though the bad, and even laughs. Quite a change~!
But tragedy has a horrible habit of stalking certain people-and Allen was one of them. After Mana passed away, a distraught Allen was approached by the Millennium Earl, who told him it was possible to bring back Mana. Being only a child at the time, he foolishly believed the Earl, calling Mana back as an Akuma-a puppet that, when attached to a soul, becomes a weapon for the Earl to use. Mana, as an Akuma, ruthlessly attacked Allen, leaving him with his cursed left eye, which he can use to see the souls of those attached to Akuma. It was at this time that Allen’s Innocence first activated, all of its own accord, and eradicated Mana from his Akuma body. The event was so traumatic, it turned Allen’s red hair stark white. The experience gave the child a certain level of respect and love for Akuma, very unique to Exorcists. He sees them as people too, and really pities them, rather than hates them like most exorcists. This is something that taught him real humanity.
If nothing else, Allen took one very, very important thing from the event: the promise he made upon Mana’s grave that he would keep walking no matter what. Allen made this his mantra, and lives by it every day. It’s my belief that his guilt from this event would continue to motivate Allen. He will not lie down and accept being beaten. Ever.
After this event, Allen spent the next several years being trained by Marian Cross, and accumulating his massive debt. (That's right. That sorry bastard left bills in poor Allen's name.) This is a great way to bring him down. To give a good idea… While fighting a pair of the Noah, they mention that Cross had left them with a 100 guineas debt (Obviously very sizable). Allen bows his head a moment before grinning, calling it nothing but chump change in comparison to his current debts.
When Cross decides Allen has had enough training, he sends him to the Black Order Headquarters with Timcampy, his golem, and a recommendation to become a full-fledged Exorcist. By this point, Allen is a very motivated 15 year old, with a bright smile and almost overly optimistic attitude. It is at this point he is most polite with everyone. He’s sure to address people very politely, and speaks very formally to all. This is Allen in his most innocent and gentlemanly phase. He's motivated to always be the right thing. Damn you heroic complex!
In fact, Allen displays this in his first interaction with Yuu Kanda and a finder, in which Kanda claims them disposable. Allen interrupts a confrontation between the two, claiming that Kanda should calm down and be a little nicer. This got him a murderous glare and Kanda inevitably tsunstomped from the scene. And thus, their rocky relationship began.
Remember that thing I mentioned earlier? That life kind of has it out for Allen? Yeah, that comes back to haunt him more than a few times. Including now. After this epic confrontation, Kanda and Allen are sent on a mission to seek out some Innocence. Though this was the first mission the Black Order sent Allen on, it ended up being a very important mission for his development with his peer.
During this battle, the Akuma Kanda and Allen had been fighting destroyed a living doll possessing the Innocence. This sends Allen into a bit of a blind rage, which forced his Innocence into a second level. His
level one Innocence evolves into his
second level weapon. These chapters show Allen as extremely caring of both humans and non-humans. Though the doll is nothing more than made wood possessed by Innocence, Allen treats her as a human being. A little bit of a significant thing here. This is also where Allen gained a small fraction of respect from Kanda (Respect used VERY loosely), and I see it attributed to his compassion for both the living and non-living. At one point Allen is knocked back and Kanda steps in the way to block an attack from the Akuma. Kanda tells Allen that he hates naïve people who do things like Allen does, but moreso, hates people that don’t keep their promises. Allen pauses a moment before smiling kindly, claiming he was just taking a break. Oddly, this was a line that reminded him not to give up.
The events that happen next highlight Allen’s determination, along with his undying loyalty to protect people he cares about, Lenalee in particular. This is also the arc that first reveals the villains of the series, the Noah. After being captured by the Noah Rhode, Allen woke up to his Innocence arm bolted into a wall with rather large screws. Rhode also had Lenalee under capture, but Allen refused to allow ill to befall the girl and literally ripped his arm from the wall, though it caused him a lot of pain and damage to his innocence.
Rhode seemed to note Allen’s respect for life, and though he’d been calling her a monster, hugged onto the white haired child, claiming herself to be warm, like any other human being. That he could even feel her heart. This caused Allen to hesitate, thus showing that Allen is more apt to be shaken in such situations. At this point, he could be wavered like that. Even with a spike driven through his left eye, Allen’s determination to protect deeply drives his actions. Considering Lenalee as a very good friend, Allen is willing to risk anything in order to keep her safe. This is that martyr complex he follows so closely.
More development with Allen happens during his meeting with Krory. This is more of a skill development, however. Allen’s left eye, normally just able to detect Akuma, evolves and can sense any Akuma within a three hundred meter radius and even force them into their true form. (Akuma commonly disguise themselves as humans.) Being able to test and comprehend this evolution of his eye shows his intelligence.
The story takes a turn for the dark with the next part of the story. When Suman, a fellow exorcist, betrays his Innocence in order to live, Allen’s closest morals are challenged. With the Church telling him to kill Suman because he is an Akuma now, and Allen trying to figure out a way to save him, the boy is really shaken to his very core. This command is going against anything Allen has ever stood for, and he refuses to accept it. With his Innocence weak and nearly falling apart, Allen pushes it to his absolute limit, again willing to sacrifice his own health and well being to save Suman. Throughout the battle, he’s screaming that he knows Suman wanted to live, and didn’t deserve to be eradicated like this. Again, this is a wonderful display of his compassion, and as well, how his ability to see Akuma with his left eye is like seeing the word in Hell (He was seeing Suman's soul the entire time).
It is also during this fight that Allen begins to doubt the sanctity of the Innocence; and not to mention the will of the God he had put so much faith into. How could something that was supposed to help people respond like this? I believe he saw his own Innocence as his purity, as his atonement for Mana, and relied on that as his faith. To see Innocence acting in this way was traumatizing for Allen. He repeatedly screams out for the Innocence to stop hurting Suman.
Allen activates his already broken Innocence, which had broken during the battle, being so frail. This is not an easy thing to
experience. A note:
It really hurts. Allen decides to use his broken Innocence to amputate the Innocence from the Akuma’s body and asks Suman to grab onto his hand and not let go to save his life. He’d be missing limbs, but at least he would be alive!
Or that was Allen’s thought at least. Tragedy strike? You bet.
When Allen regains consciousness, he sees Suman, free of the Innocence that was trying to take his life. However, the ordeal left Suman without spirit. Essentially, he was a soulless vegetable. Allen may have been able to accept this. After all, he was in rough shape with his Innocence broken, and the Order would have the Innocence they wanted, and Suman could keep his life. Until another Noah by the name of Tyki Mikk shows up and destroys Suman’s soulless body.
Tyki says some things that really resonate with Allen, and in the end, ends up driving his hand through his chest, leaving him for dead.
This is possibly the only time Allen’s ever been really lucky. Someone working for the Black Order happens over his body and carries him to safety.
When Allen wakes up, it’s from a haunting dream which can be interpreted to be his quick flirt with death. This is also the first time Allen sees a shadow covered figure with a big smile; a first of many encounters, which will be explained later.
Allen went through a stage of epic development after losing his Innocence. He woke up in tears, unsure of whether he was relieved to be alive, or just scared from his brush with death. Before he’s told that he can reform his Innocence, Allen is confronted about his plans from this point forward. Being armless meant no fighting, which really made him lose his purpose in life. Allen, when asked if he would basically give up and that even God wouldn’t blame him, smiles somberly and says “God? I don’t care about that anymore.” He further goes on to begin getting emotional saying that he made a promise to destroy Akuma, fight alongside his friends, and most importantly, his promise to Mana in which he would keep walking until he died.
This event obviously shook his faith in what he really believed in, even rejecting the God that had blessed him with his Innocence. After seeing what he had, Allen’s faith had pretty much been shattered. It’s only after they tell him that he can reform his Innocence that he begins to show little signs of hope. … Of course, days worth of failed attempts proved to be quite a task for Allen, who couldn’t seem to reform his arm into a usable form. It would always dissipate into particles before actually forming. This has been thought to be due to his style not fitting his Innocence.
Allen finally reforms his Innocence, but only after being attacked by several Akuma. It seems to click when Allen is explaining to Bak what he’s come to the realization of. Allen wholeheartedly considers himself as not human anymore, and believes that he is only a weapon. However, he believes that he is a weapon meant to save Akuma and humans. In reforming his Innocence, Allen apologizes to it and promises not to forget that particular Innocence’s purpose again. His new form is known as
Crowned Clown. It seems after he reforms his Innocence, Allen gains back some of his hope, though his faith has still suffered. This is something Allen does not regain back-not fully at least. He mostly goes back to his gentlemanly, positive ways, though it should be noted that he seems to have matured from the experience. … As if you couldn’t mature when losing your arm…
The next area of epic development happens during the Noah’s Ark area. Noah’s Ark is essentially a freefloating dimension that only three people can control: The Millennium Earl, Rhode, and the mysterious 14th Noah. When Allen and Co. get pulled into this Ark, they are told it will literally be crumbling around them and will only have a small amount of time to get out. Going through several Noahs does not help their situation. Gradually, exorcists in the group are left behind to deal with the Noahs Skin, Jasdero and David, Tyki, and Rhode. Though Allen is reluctant, he leaves behind a couple of his companions to fight while they charge through the crumbling ark. It is at this point his mission-oriented side comes though, and though he is more than willing to stop and wait for a friend, he really takes in the greater good. Again, his determination and will to carry on shine brightly. In fact, Allen’s determination brings forth another ability that becomes very useful: the Sword of Exorcism. This blade has the ability to harm only what is evil. This is an important note to remember. With this blade, Allen exorcises the Noah from Tyki Mikk, rendering him powerless and defeated. Can we say payback is a bitch?
Yes, yes we can.
This did show another side to Allen-his disdain for the Noah. He seems pretty ruthless when it comes to them, and won’t hesitate to wound them fatally for the sake of his friends.
Getting through this ark was horrendously difficult, and finally, they end up in the very last room, which is falling apart. Allen, however, ends up in a secret room with a couch, mirrors, and a piano, thanks to Cross, who decided to show up at the last possible second… like a jerk. Back to the point though, this room... Curious, we say.
Quite an odd sight greets him.
This happy looking fellow! Also known as the 14th.
Allen is greatly disturbed by this figure, who points out the piano in the room. With some prompting from Cross, Allen places his hands on the piano, following the score Timcampy displays, even though he’s never touched a piano in his LIFE. Odd? I’d say so. This piano wasn’t just any piano. Nope. It was a piano that could control the very place they were in and stop its destruction. Allen, as soon as he begins playing, hears a voice singing in his head. He is too mortified to continue at first, but with some prompting from Cross and the 14th, he plays through the song, and bends the very Ark to his will.
Finally, he plays the melody, which opens a gate to the normal realm. Portal skill obtained. Yay Allen. But how? What is Allen's connection with this Shadow Person? STAY TUNED~
It is mentionable that from this point forward, Allen sees the same shadowy 14th hanging over his shoulder in mirrors, windows, shiny surfaces…etc. He can feel him there.
When Allen is told he’ll be having a meeting with Cross, he learns his connection to the 14th. Cross tells Allen that he is what remains of him; his living will of what the 14th Noah left behind when he was killed. Allen is told that his personality will slowly erode away and what will be left of him will be the 14th. It turns out the 14th’s name was Neah Walker. Now why does that sound familiar? OH. Right. Because Neah was Mana Walker’s brother. Suddenly, Allen is confused, concerned… Did Mana really love him as a son, or was he still feeling the love of his brother, whose will resides in Allen’s mind? He spends several silent moments staring at nothing. I believe this time was spent reflecting on everything from his childhood, trying to reason out that Mana still loved him, though he did go mad after Neah died.
Oh yeah. As if that wasn’t enough for him, Allen is also told that he will kill someone he loves when he does become the 14th. Traaaageeedyyyyy.
Anyone reacting to that would easily be angry. Allen blows his top. He literally rips through sutras that are supposed to suppress his Innocence from being activated and fights through two or three well trained elite fighters in Order to get back to Cross to make his proclamation-he is his own person, and the love he had for Mana was his own, and not Neah. Allen also is determined that he won’t kill anyone, no matter what. He proclaims that he will always keep the promise he made to Mana, regardless of Neah’s existence. Rage face was totally go. Allen finally calms and leaves Cross to his own devices to go on a mission.
Of course, this entire conversation was recorded, and next we see General Cross, he is attacked by s mysterious stranger, who turns out to be someone from the Church, and is murdered. When Allen finds out, there’s a very definitive change in his behaviors and actions. It seems like, even though he dislikes Cross, it affected quite profoundly. Allen seems to become a lot more calloused in his thoughts and a little less innocent. Really, this was about the final straw for him with the Church, and was really the thing that pushed him away from it. Though he still lives as an exorcist, it isn’t by choice after this event. He’s also a lot more down to business, much like Kanda (Though, their relationship didn’t change much-he’s still unafraid to stop Kanda and have a go at him.)
A lot more changes with Allen after Cross was murdered. Allen’s gentlemanly ways are still used, but he no longer uses the insanely polite speech. Several people noted this distinctive change in his speech patterns. As well, he lessens the use of his ‘Mana’ mask, so to speak. Essentially, this means Allen displays his actual emotions show through a lot more. He doesn’t mask everything with a polite smile anymore. Another change worth mentioning is the caution Allen exacts from this point forward. Since the Church suspects him of being a traitor and being the 14th’s will they constantly monitor him, and eventually tell him he’s not allowed to use any of the Fourteenth’s abilities, or face consequences. … Or death, in layman's terms.
Another thing to note from this point forward is a more prominent presence of Neah. Allen sees him continuously looming over his shoulder in mirrors and window. Though, he’s getting more used to seeing it, Allen is still greatly unsettled by his presence. And who wouldn’t be with
this looming over your shoulder all the time?
One of the only things to remain constant is Allen’s sympathy for the Akuma. Like before, he maintains that he will both save them and humans.
The next arc revolves around the Innocence of a young kid who can possess humans and Akuma. During the kid’s recruitment, a level four Akuma attacks the group. Now, this is the strongest Akuma they had ever faced at this point. Allen and Kanda are primarily fighting it, but still, pretty much getting their asses handed to them. The real important thing during this fight is how it ends. Allen uses the Sword of Exorcism to not only stab through the Akuma, but himself. After all, that Sword of Exorcism shouldn’t have any effect on anything not evil.
Wrong again~
It hurts Allen like crazy. This event resurfaced Neah, though it didn’t completely bring him out. More like... shook him awake from a very long coma. Allen suddenly gets a sinister looking smile and says one thing: “Good Morning.” The Akuma are controlled by the Noah, so when the level four sees Neah, he panics and it gives Kanda the chance to kill him. Allen is snapped out of this Neah trance by Kanda calling him an ‘idiot beansprout’ He seems to be okay afterward, save for the wounds.
And finally we arrive with the most current arc. Or at least the last one we’ll get to in this app for the canon point. B) By this time, Allen is slipping into Neah!Mode more and more. When faced with the Millennium Earl, Allen slips into Neah’s personality, which is much more batshit crazy and violent. It doesn’t seem to last long, because Allen regains control quickly. He does, however, wake up in Neah!mode from time to time, and usually takes someone’s voice to snap out of it.
Allen develops quite an attitude during this time, and his determination is something that really shines through in this area. This is the part of the series where we learn where Kanda comes from, and Allen and Rhode have a front row seat to it, thanks to a new Noah, Wisely’s, ability to trap people in memories. Throughout seeing the difficulties of Kanda’s past, Allen nearly gets swallowed up by the intense emotions in there several times. In fact, most of the time he’s there, Rhode has her arms around him, as if keeping him in his own reality, creepy as it is. Damn loli zombie. It is only when he sees the climax Allen gets outright offended that Kanda is allowing them to pry his mind like this.
In fact, it looks like this is the most angry Allen’s ever been in this whole series. He’s pictured with freakin’ devil horns and evil flames protruding around him.
Allen, once more in this series, does something no one else has ever been able to do. Break free of Wisely’s mind trap. The moment he does, he yells at Kanda, calling him a complete idiot and punches him in the face.
… And then he takes the swim~
IN SUMMATION: Allen is best put this way: An overly polite, fake gentleman, who is awesome at cheating, and a gentleman who wants to save everyone with the appetite of a large army. THANKS BUTTON

✝ He can make gates to places he’s already been using the Musician’s Lyrics.
✝ His Crowned Clown Innocence comes with many perks!
-The cape can move and act almost of its own will to protect people.
-The Sword of Exorcism, which is full of win. It should only harm things which are evil.
-Looks really cool. It’s fuzzy~
-Cape can also morph into long strips which he can use to wrap enemies or save friends. Known as the Crowned Belt
✝ Allen’s left eye, normally just able to detect Akuma, evolves and can sense any Akuma within a three hundred meter radius and even force them into their true form.

✝ HERO COMPLEX.
✝ Must eat large quantities of food as a parasitic Innocence user.
✝ Can and will be easily distracted by food in light situations.
✝... Can totally be bribed with Mitarashi or other tasty treats.
✝The ‘Mana mask’ I.E. Smile politely like nothing is wrong when there is most obviously something wrong.
[ Other Important Facts ] :
✝ Allen loves Mitarashi Dango
✝ … Allen loves food in general, and he can eat… a small army’s dinner. And have room for dessert.
✝ His left arm is discolored, and he normally keeps it covered/has gloves on.

[ Sample ] :
Waking up to what he had… well… it concerned the Exorcist. And rightfully so! Generally being in midst of a battle and suddenly waking up somewhere else? Yeah. Concerning. The silver haired boy sat up… Wet.
“… Did Wisely trap me again…? No, no… Perhaps a gate…”
… But he’d never seen this place before. And he could only open gates to places he’d been to. Allen Walker rose a hand to his chin in deep thought a brief moment. How could he end up somewhere like this… it… had to be a trick of some sort…
Oh, what was he doing?! He didn’t have time to sit there and think! The closest thing he had to family… they were in trouble. Allen forced his way to his feet, reciting the Fourteenth’s lyrics in his mind. Now, normally, this would open a gate, and he could travel straight through the Ark to his destination.
… But that wasn’t the case. The gate did, in fact, open on the ground, but the destination… It was blank.
Allen stared uncomprehendingly a moment. … How… How could it be blank…? Quickly, he recited the lyrics once more. Again. Destination was blank.
“C’mon! Why aren’t you working!?” Desperation was beginning to take its toll on the white haired boy, who was growing more and more worried by the moment. After all he’d just seen… after snapping Kanda out of that trance… TOTAL RAGE FACE IS GO.
“WHY AM I HERE!?”
[ Questions? Comments? Concerns? ] : Yes!
Where I’m pulling Allen from, he can open ‘Gates’ to places he’s been before by reciting these lyrics in his mind. I think it’s most similar to how the Organization members from the KH series use their portals. Would these be acceptable to travel around Vatheon and raid people’s fridges from the inside >3?
