Oh, good! Having never been around them, I wasn't sure if this was normal or not.

As I've come to understand, Pokemon battle where you're from, right Miss?

That's right. Battling helps them become stronger.

They don't have to, and some of them don't like to that much but they don't mind it.

Ah, I see... I suppose I have the negative connotation of chicken or dog fighting in my world. It's regarded as a crime, thus it seems rather foreign to me.

Well there are some people that make Pokemon fight for the wrong reasons, but there's not many of them - and they're usually the worst trainers; their Pokemon don't often end up so good at battling.
