I don't know about the wind, but something does smell [pause] nice.

[A longer pause.]

I'm not drawing anything important. Should I come and help?

Just a still life. I need more practice.

Baking feels like something I could do.

I think you draw great. Can I see it when you're done?

Have you tried before?

A-okay, I remember you're on slowatus. ^^ paintitgray June 28 2010, 01:27:47 UTC
I think I might have done it before, yeah. [Pause, as she fumbles for a way to phrase it.] My hands know how, even if I don't remember why. Like drawing.

I'll show it to you in a minute. Hang on.

[She closes her journal and tucks it under her arm, heading for the kitchen.]

Like how I remember how to fly! I get it.

Sure!

[Apple is in the kitchen wearing an apron and staring at his journal. There's a slip of normal paper upon which a recipe is written and around him ...is a mess. Already. Packages of flour, sugar, a glass bottle of milk, several cartons of strawberries and more cover the small counter space.]

Oh hi. I'm not sure I know how much a pint is, do you know?

Reply

Oh, dear. Are you all right? paintitgray June 28 2010, 06:40:43 UTC
[Kurayami stops short in the doorway, surveying the carnage with amused chagrin. Then she chuckles and sets her sketchbook safely aside, out of harm's way, and wades into the fray, shrugging out of her jacket.]

Hmm...I think a pint's about half a quart. [Reaching carefully in amongst the cartons and packages, she picks up the milk bottle and squints at the side.] Yup, this is a quart, all right.

[She starts to go to hand it to him, then rethinks and sets it back on the counter.] It might be a good idea to do the dry ingredients first, though. D'you mind if I have a look at the recipe?

Oh yeah! It's all good stuff just busy ya know? crowsloveapples June 28 2010, 06:59:12 UTC
[He was totally going for the quart of milk because he was thirsty but now he stares at the bottle in confusion]

Oh. Maybe I should go in order.

[He pulls up the recipe and hands it to her]

Cara makes this look so easy.

[Although that was probably because Cara couldn't cook either]

Good to know! :D paintitgray June 28 2010, 07:04:10 UTC
[She chuckles again and takes the recipe, scanning the ingredients and the preparation steps quickly before setting it down within easy reach.]

Well, you make flying look easy, kiddo.

[She smiles, checking the stuff on the counter--he got everything, that's for sure. There are a few things set out that she's not even sure are necessary. Cornmeal, for one, could definitely be put back.]

Usually it's a good idea to do recipes in order, though, yeah. Have you got an extra apron?

^_^ I need bed soon gah such a long day crowsloveapples June 28 2010, 07:09:32 UTC
I think it's because I do it a lot.

[And he did, every chance he got, Apple was flying all over the place.]

Oh ok! Hmmm I think so, if it's not in the wash.

[He wanders over to one of the drawers by the sink and peaks in. He quickly reaches in and pulls out a light blue striped apron]

This one's Moon's! It should fit.

This seems like a very good idea /now/.... XD; paintitgray June 28 2010, 22:40:24 UTC
All right, then. [Kurayami loops and ties it on, rather relieved. The last thing she needs is to spoil one of the shirts Kagerou worked so hard on.] Thanks.

[Glancing at the things on the counter, she spots a flour sifter and smiles. That would be fun for him. Picking it up, she grabs a bag of flour.] Think you could sift...three cups of flour with this? You put the flour in the top, then close it and shake it so that it comes out the bottom into the mixing bowl. Gets rid of the lumps.

Oh god crowsloveapples June 30 2010, 03:44:23 UTC
[He reaches for the bag and the sifter with eager eyes]

OH that's what its for! I can do that! This is gonna be fun!

[He starts to open the bag of floor so he can pour it into the cup. You can only guess how messy this is going to get]

Thanks for helping Kurayami. Its strange to be a whole year old. It went by so fast!

[Oh and there the flour goes across the counter. He frowns at the cup]

oops.

Good job! ♥ paintitgray June 30 2010, 08:01:24 UTC
[Ah. Frozen in the act of reaching too late to catch the tipping flour bag, Kurayami looks from her outstretched hand to his frowning little face and starts to chuckle. Serves her right for not thinking before giving it to him.]

'Oops' is right. My bad, Apple. Here, uh... [She looks around, and snatches up a plastic bowl, carefully scooping the spilled flour into it.] The counter's clean, right? I think we can still use this.

Yup it's clean.

[he watches her scoop the flour and then smiles brightly]

Maybe I should dip the cup into the bowl and get the flour that way. Or pour the flour over the cup in the bowl. It's heaver than I thought.

[She considers for a moment, then picks up the bowl and sets it in the sink, carefully pushing the faucet off to the side so that it won't drench its contents even if he bumps the handle.] How about this? You can put the sifter in it and pour that way, so the sink will catch anything that the bowl doesn't.

[Still watching him out of the corner of her eye, she commences to cracking eggs into a bowl. Time to get this project moving!]
