question for folks who believe

I'm hearing a little more about how the Public Option health care thingie will provide ratings for doctors, which somehow affect the money they get for the work they do. Only a little, though, and I don't really want to take the time to read a bill for myself. So, here's my question ( Read more... )

Disclaimer: I don't know. Somewhat tangential discussion follows.

So if this is still worth reading :) then my point is that How does the evaluation of doctors, and resultant feedback mechanism for improvement over time, compare is missing a key clause: and funding to enact improvementsMy understanding is that No Child Left Behind was an unfunded mandate, so sure, you could have perfect feedback, but nothing could change due to lack of funding ( ... )

If you're talking about something in the House bill, the closest thing I can find is this, which mentions "performance or utilization based payments". It's a bit vague. So I guess it would be up to the officials in charge to come up with something effective.
