I got the ick (in its milder danamae form) a full 36 hours after Dana started showing symptoms... Long after I was far, far away from any EHF foodstuffs.

chenoameg thinks it's a virus, and I tend to trust her gut on such things. Especially since she got it (twice, if you believe ringrose's description over hers...) long before EHF ( Read more... )

More info at this pdf; apparently it's a Thing.

I managed to sleep another four hours last night, and got up feeling vaguely normal. Then an hour later fatigue hit me and my tummy was rumbly again. I've had a couple one-hour naps since.

Once I was able to keep things down, I started using gatorade. It's not bubbly so I did not have even more gas upsetting my stomach.

But it was a full day before I actually ate anything more than a handful of pretzels.

Fruit Punch Gatorade is always the best rehydration thing I've found when confronted with stomach ick of any sort. Non-carbonated and full of electrolytes and not as flavorless as water. I usually use it as a Cheerios chaser when I'm up to solid food consumption in small amounts. Hope you feel better soon. -Shannon

my experience is that the same strain of virus can affect different people at, shall we say, opposite ends of their digestive tract.
