Aso a tip is to ask your family, friends and neighbors for their coupon newspaper inserts as I have noticed a lot of people do not use them and toss them away. I have gotten a ton of coupons this way ^_^ I subscribe to my local paper which (sadly for them; they are desperate for customers) is WAY cheap ($16 for 5 months for Thursday-Sunday!) and we also get the SAME coupon inserts on wednesday in the free town paper that is tossed on our driveway. So we often get double coupons which is great.
I use them for items like laundry soap, HBA, paper goods, etc. I buy a lot of fresh meats and veggies and stay away from most processed crap so I don't get to really use a lot of the coupons offered. I often will get a sale item (laundry soap) and use a coupon as well at the same time. Some stores let me use several coupons for the same one item while other only allow one per item >.<. I buy generic where it makes sense. Example being I stay away from high priced items like Tide, which is a quality product yes but a huge pricey item
