The library wasn't Demyx's first choice among the places he could possibly go on a bright, sunny day. It wasn't even his second. In the scheme of things (not that he'd counted,) he figured it placed somewhere around thirty-fifth.

And yet, here he was.

He was here because banging on Lavi's door for ten minutes had produced no results, and he hadn't seen the redhead in about a week. Not that he expected Lavi to check in with him, or anything, but when you live a couple doors down from someone who calls himself your friend and still manage not to run into him for days on end, something's probably up ( ... )

It was hard to miss that mop of hair, even in his peripheral vision. He'd hoped Demyx wouldn't notice him, and nearly got that wish, but, alas, no such luck.

All things considered, Demyx was probably the best and worst person to find him - the best, because out of all the people Lavi knew, Demyx would probably have the more favorable reaction of simply not even noticing the types of books stacked on either side of the redhead; and the worst, because the more Lavi read, the more he was realizing he was dealing with not one, but at least two or three different emotions that were, up until now, completely foreign to him.

And Demyx was at the center of the more troublesome set.

Lavi pulled a cheerful grin, as if he hadn't disappeared for a week without reason, as if he'd just seen Demyx yesterday, as if he wasn't dealing with something that was completely and utterly stupid and beyond him. "Hey," he replied.

Maybe Demyx had his own business here. Maybe he'd just leave it at that and walk on. Maybe maybe maybe...

Unaware of (or at least ignoring) Lavi's hopes, Demyx plunked himself down near one of Lavi's stacks of books and snagged a volume off the top. "What're you reading?" he asked curiously. The luridly-colored cover of the book in his hands made him raise an eyebrow. He wouldn't have thought Lavi's literary preferences ran that way....

Lavi's grin faded as Demyx made no move to leave - in fact, quite the opposite. He colored slightly as Demyx snagged one of the books in the pile he had yet to put away.

"Research," he replied with a sigh as he closed the book he was currently reading.
