Et, Tu Brute? - The Not Fail Version.

Someone has to be thinking this, "Why don't we send our characters to attack the ship as if it were a counter culture and we were Americans". Okay, so no one's thinking tha- Oh I've said this already. So look down below an OOC post, and you'll see what I mean. The first time round I screwed up massively by attempting to plan an attack on the ship's defenses while not noticing that the only way to damage the shields is from OUTSIDE THE SHIP. To say the least, it was a remarkable error when making a plan. However, I've learned from my mistakes and I am attempting this a second time!

Has anyone ever wondered what it would be like to fight robots in space in order to allow a group of rebels to capture the ship you've been taken prisoner on so that you might escape? Well, now you have the chance to fulfill your dreams with the Et, tu brute - Not Fail Version.

TL;DR: Since all the characters seem to like Orion, let's get them to stealthily attack the ship's shields and give Orion an easier job of breaking in. And I'm fully freaking aware that this is the hardest route to take.

After deliberate research and missing something important, I realized that the ships shields are on the outer side of the hull. This means that we'll need someone to go in a space suit or send a character who doesn't need to breathe and simply needs depressurization and/or a tether to the ship.

This character will have to be a sharpshooter, an archer or someone who can attack from long range that I haven't thought of. In all cases, these character(s?) will need to have weapons that don't require gravity and can function in a situation where it isn't directly attached to your hand. The space suit and harness can be built by Lucca given the right advice.

To have a better idea of what's necessary, the hull is covered by a series of modules that project the shields at a 50x50 foot interval. The goal is to take out enough of them that Orion's ship can attack the hull (trying to take out enough so that a whole ship can fit inside is pushing it a little) and force Ganymede to listen to the characters' and Orions demands, or better, allow Orion to get close so he can blast his way through on his own.

Alongside the character(s) which attack the modules will be a minimum of two defending ones, who will defend the spacefaring character from incoming robots and first break a hole through the ships side without getting killed. By comparison, this won't be too big a deal.

Simple, right? WRONG. Additionally, in order to help the self destruction effort, there will need to be another group to create a distraction to pull away some of the robots (there has to be a limited supply of them right?)in one of the busier and more easily damaged levels (i.e. Levels 12-15). They need to create a much chaos as possible, without getting caught. Their role would be to blow stuff up, wait for robots to come, find their way to another part of the ship. Then repeat and rinse.

...Or, at least that's how the plan'll go. God, I know this whole thing is Tl;DR but please bear with me as I copy and paste all this, I'm new to this whole planning thing. Worse, there are still some variables I need to sort out, like whether the shields can be destroyed with the available firepower, and how easily. So Rem, if you notice that I've mentioned something that is 100% wrong, notify me. For those of you who wish to see most of the information from the original source look no further than here.

Also, unless anyone has any qualms, Isshin'll be instigating this madness.

THIS CRAZINESS WILL BE IN TWO POSTS ON THE LOG FORM IF THIS GETS UP AND RUNNING. WHOEVER THINKS THEIR CHARACTER(S) WOULD BE INTERESTED OR HAVE ANY CRIT, AMENDMENTS, AND/OR VALID POINTS PLEASE COMMENT BELOW. PRETTY PLEASE.

To surmise, this plan needs a minimum of the following:
  • One character to destroy the shield's modules and repair drones.
  • At least two characters to defend them.
  • A ton of characters to completely wreck the ship from the inside out.
  • Material to make a space suit and tether
Now, and this is important, there will be consequences for characters who participate. Likely house arrest for those who are caught by the bots or killed. Additionally, if I don't have about ten characters on this approach, then there's really no point. Should the plan fail, in that it fails to amass enough characters, Plan B is solely the wreck the ship portion. It'll be like guerrilla warfare but with robots! But look at this way, the other option is submitting to Ganymede by pretending to like him (or some other unforeseen genius plan) and whose characters really want to do that. I mean look at him. It's Ganymede. He looks like an angry deflated soccer ball with ears on it. Ew.

I'm going to stop trying now.
