[the ship has been unusually peaceful since its restoration. over a week of no mishaps, of all robots doing their duties just as scheduled, all facilities in optimal working conditions, and even the Enviro-dome looking especially beautiful.

naturally, something has to go wrong.

it's like a ship-wide glitch, a flash of stark black and white before the eyes for just a split second. it's quickly followed by a very soft, nearly indiscernible hum of energy. quiet, unobstrusive, but the noise doesn't go away.

the ship-wide hologram doesn't go away, either. it seems to be limited to just passengers, especially since the captain has nothing to say about it.

at the very least, the costumes that all passengers are now wearing look very nice]

Welcome to the REAL plot post. And I'm sure at least some of you saw this coming after my srs poll last cycle. But what has happened, exactly? To put it bluntly: the holo-suite has extended its influence.

It's a little thing, really. Holograms have now encased every single passenger on board. It's a little bit like a slightly warm blanket millimeters from your skin. It looks solid. It moves like it's solid. It sounds like it's solid. But touch it...and it's not solid at all. Hands will go right through and the real material of skin and clothing can be felt beneath it. All the holograms do, basically, is make it look like the character in question is, indeed, wearing a costume of some kind. If there's a skirt or some skin showing...yep, it'll look like THEIR skin showing. The Crucible's replication technology isn't called the best of the best for nothing!

Can these been gotten rid of? Well, the source of these holograms is, at this time, completely unknown. You can go to the holo-suite and investigate if you'd like, but you won't be finding anything! Hard to turn them off when you can't find the switch. You can complain to the captain, but how often has that worked? Now, those characters with appearance-altering powers are somewhat limited. Ninja have it easy; chakra and mind-altering techniques (I'm looking at you, Sharingan-users) can indeed cover up the hologram affect. But those individuals that can change shape to, say, puppies, well...the hologram will change with you. I'm not sure how nice this fashion style will look on a dog, but oh well! :D The hologram will also shift to accommodate whatever you happen to be doing; going to bed? Fancy (or racy) pajamas! Taking a shower? A swimsuit! Sad to say, this is going to make it hard to get naked for a while, but who wants that?

What fashion style, exactly? Why, the ever-popular (and sometimes inappropriate) Lolita style! Wiki has a good primer with outside links to image galleries if you need some help thinking up a style. It can be as complicated or simple as you wish, and from any of the various sub-styles, such as Sweet or Punk Lolita. HOWEVER.

You may have noticed that Lolita tied with Transvestites in the poll. That means we're going to be mixing this up a bit. Men will be dressed ONLY in women's fashion and women will be dressed ONLY in men's fashions. The basic gist of that is skirts for guys, pants for girls, and that's that. :]

This is primarily "for the fun of it" plot, so let's have a good time, guys! Because while this is more or less harmless, who knows what the future may bring? EDIT: I would like to mention, though, that we're keeping all outfits PG-13. SON OF EDIT: Included in costumes is makeup and hair styles to a certain extent! More like their natural hair done up fancily or with some coloring rather than suddenly having a mane that reaches to the floor. Also, the body BENEATH the clothes has not changed; women still have boobs, men still don't, but women in men's nightclothes, for example, have nightshirts to cover the bits. Remember, outfits can be scandalous, but no nipples, no genitals, and at least a third of their body covered. Sorry folks!

On the official side of things, I'd like to remind everyone that the official non-official rp chat is found on AIM at cruciblelounge and if you happen to be new, why not drop by? Nobody bites, I swear!

If you have any questions about the above information, please ask them here!
