you make a pretty interesting arguement. except you cant compare people dying in a natural disaster to a mass murder. and its also granted then when you're in a country, you feel more sensitive to the pain that is in that country rather than the pain of another. would you feel the same way if someone in my family died that you would about yours? no, because you don't know me, and you wouldnt really care. its understandable. but i do agree with you on some level. people seem to feel all patriotic and compassionate after a "tragedy" rather than the every day occurance. (people dying of diseases, poverty, etc.)
I of course agree that mass murder is worse than a natural disaster, but the point is that people barely if care about 10,000 people dying, even if it is in a different part of the world.
