Yesterday was full of reconnecting with old friends. I thoroughly enjoyed a three hour lunch with Kathy and Alice that involved beer, cigarettes, and delicious Mexican food. Kathy was abroad last semester in Chile so it was really nice having someone to talk to about how awesome living abroad is and how sucky America is. Because it's true. Not ( Read more... )

I thought that was a terrible way to resolve things as well. But what can one do? Still, I enjoyed the flick for its moments of brilliance, even if it wasn't as good and as brilliant over-all as the first.

A) Closer was enjoyable, if a little weird and depressing.
B) How was The Life Aquatic? Would you recommend it?
C) Alias tonight! Don't forget!

A) Will see Closer tomorrow night.
B) Totally recommended! A bit more bizarre than Tenenbaum's, but more enjoyable than Rushmore.
C) Didn't forget. Was totally sad that Irina is apparently dead. Hope she's not. I like the anticipation that perhaps our dearest Spy Mom will make an appearance.

Saw Closer...WITH MY MOM! NOT a good idea at all. It was tres uncomfortable with all the nudity and sex and dirty talk and the like. Actually, I found her awkwardness sort of amusing...but still! You were right, though, in saying that it is weird and depressing. I found myself not really enjoying anyone in that film, but still liking it overall. Very honest, perhaps?

You said yourself that you hated most Greek's! And while being a foreigner in a distant land allows one to rise above and be cultureless and therefore "superior", that doesn't mean that you're not copping out ( ... )

I'm not trying to say that I think America is hell on wheels or anything, honestly. My Greek experiences have just changed my perspective on life in such a way that I am having serious difficulties reconciling with the American way ( ... )
