The Night Life

Well I think I've now officially become nocturnal; I've made it to classes one day this week due to staying up all night thesisizing before passing out at some ungodly hour and being too exhausted to get up for classes and then sleeping in till some mid-afternoon hour. It's been quite lovely, but guilt-filling ( Read more... )

Hey there sexy monkey! Good luck on the thesis home stretch. I sure as hell don't miss that shit. A tattoo will be a most just reward. I'm glad you're designing it yourself. My brother was supposed to get Adonai Elohim ("Lord God") written in Hebrew on the back of his arm, but a few month after he'd gotten it done some guy stopped him on the street and asked if he knew what the tattoo said -- never a good sign. Apparently they forgot a little tail on one of the Hebrew characters or something, so it came out reading "God Cupboard". Brian decided to keep it that way, as a lesson to us all.

Hope you can power through to the end like a Wow!-chip fueled dreamland locomotive.

Hey yourself, sweet'ums. Thanks for the well-wishes. I hope the glorious city of brotherly love is sharing some of its loving with its sexy, sexy sister (that's you!!!!).

I laughed pretty hard at the whole "God Cupboard" sort of thing. I think he should act really defensive about it now, and when someone's all bitchy-like with, "Ummm, do you know what your tattoo says?" he can be like, "Yes, bitches, it says 'God Cupboard' because its true and therefore hilarious." Or something.

hey kiddo, it'll all be over soon.

did you get a chance to turn in the Griffin book yet? I can't find it at the 'brary (I've picked up Diana's tendency to shorten words so they sound way cool).

I DID return A Griffin book, actually, at least one. Was this the one strictly on Nero or was it about Seneca as well? Actually, never mind, I've returned them both. Perhaps the 'brary is being slow to reshelf?

I don't know what's going on then...simon still lists the Griffin book as being out. I'm gonna go do some searching though. I checked the reshelving section as well, but I'm thinking the book has become a phantom.

also...do you have the book by Elsner & Masters (Reflections of Nero)? because that would be grand. I marked a few quotes and forgot to write down the specific essays they were from in the book.
