tributes and stipulations

Dec 27, 2010 21:02

Some year this was! And here I was thinking last year couldn't get any better. Wrong! 2010 was sheer EPIC I don't even know what to say. I mean seriously! SERIOUSLY! Amazing amazing amazing.

So without further ado, .

Check out last year's which was laden with photos and whathaveyou.

1. What did you do in 2010 that you’d never done before?
OOH where do I even begin? I did SO MANY NEW and IMPORTANT things this year that I’ve never done before. One thing though that could sum it all up, trivial and critical, was that this year I let go.

I let go of the boat’s outriggers in Coron which I was clinging on to for dear life and subsequently had the best time I’ve ever had in water. I let go of a comfortable job that was holding me back. I let go of an entire industry where I would have found security but not fulfillment. I let go of people I cannot have. I let go of ideas that can not happen, because I had no control over them and thus something I shouldn’t pine about. I let go of certain control issues. I let go of my brain, to a certain extent.

And it was all very, very freeing.

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don’t really make resolutions. Though last year I wrote in my Handwritten Journal that I wanted to grow up, really grow up. And I also wanted to let go. Amusingly, it turns out I managed the latter. And the former followed suit after #1.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
OMG YES! My cousin and his wife had the most beautiful girl in June. Now she’s 6 months old and getting cuter by the day. Francesca Beatriz <3

See number 1.

9. What was your biggest failure?
It turns out it’s harder to save money when you keep spending. Gah.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Hell, this was probably a landmark year for that. I suffered an infection at the back of my thigh that left me unable to stand, let alone sit for days without blood pouring and pain searing through every inch of my body, and left a huge scar on my previously mark-less legs. Then I learned I was allergic to Midol after my eyes swelled like it was attacked by a hundred bees. UGLY!

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Plane tickets. :)

b) Thinner or fatter I don’t know! Everyone tells me different things! Haha.
c) Richer or poorer Definitely richer in all aspects.

NEON TREES! “Oh oh I want some more/ Oh oh what are you waiting for?/ Take a bite of my heart tonight” Soooo catchy, and so apt.

27. What did you want and get?
What did I want and not get?! Seriously, I got EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING!

Bo. Enlightenment. Action. An open door to my career of choice. EVERYTHING. Even the lens I’ve always wanted but hadn’t planned on getting yet because it was outside my budget fell onto my lap! This year was another amazingly blessed one. It’s sheer Universe awesomeness.

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 22. I spent it agitated whether my CD had enough heart to let me go home early. Thankfully he did so I had dinner with my parents and lola at home. It was small and sweet and cozy, the exact opposite of last year’s Ondoy madness. Haha.

31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
I never realized how this keeps asking the same thing. See number 6. Hahaha.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?

d) Turn your brain off once in a while, it does magical things. Hahaha.
e) It’s all about calculated risks.

39.Song lyric that sums up your year:
It was rich in terms of songs actually. It started out

Hey love, I am a constant satellite
Of your blazing sun
My love, I’ll obey your law of gravity
This is the fate you’ve carved on me
- Gravity by Vienna Teng

Then toward the 2nd quarter it became

I think I’ll try defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye I’m defying gravity
I think I’ll try defying gravity
And you won’t bring me down

After which it quickly became

You are my sweetest downfall
I loved you first, I loved you first
Beneath the sheets of paper lies my truth
- Samson by Regina Spektor

And then all that brouhaha simmered down and into the 3rd quarter I became more mindful of me, at which point it was the entire Hand in my Pocket song by Alanis.

And then that kinda simmered down too after the whole career drama and the last quarter dealt a whole bunch of markers and turning points.

Oh oh I want some more
Oh oh what are you waiting for
Take a bite of my heart tonight
- Animal by Neon Trees

And then finished off with a very liberating, very apt and very significant classic.

There goes my pain
There goes my chains
Did you see them falling
There goes this feeling that has no meaning
There goes the world off of my shoulders
There goes the world off of my back
There it goes
- Quasimodo by Lifehouse

I was so very, very blessed this year. Pure Universe awesomeness. I seriously can't be grateful enough. <3
