In my last post, I talked about the deals that XM was offering me to continue the free subscription we got with the new car. Since then, they offered me another deal which was almost enough to get me to pay for it - six months for the price of two. Re kids & Prime/streaming - now that the tastes are broader than just yours, yeah, it makes sense. But my question would be, how do *you* discover new music? Or do you?

I am at the moment paying for both iTunes Music and Pandora. Pandora was previously doing a better job of discoverability, but iTunes Music had the edge on "can just play anything if I know to look for it". I've found a few new bands I like that way.

I discover new music either by hearing it played in places where I don't get any input as to what's played - bowling alleys, birthday party venues, etc., or from things my kids are listening to. Oh, and Weird Al's new albums - he has good taste in songs that he does parodies of. There are a few songs that show up on the Kidz Bop channel that I recognize because they're Kidz Bop versions of songs that Al parodied. Meg usually enjoys it when I start singing the parody while Bella complains.

Heh. So, you get new music from your kids. Your kids and possibly bowling.

That's legit! Just wondering. My kids aren't old enough to be useful like that yet.

Well, since your kids haven't clued you in yet, I'll point out that Taylor Swift has some very catchy music. The kids got one of her albums last year for Christmas, then requested another during the year, and I enjoyed both of them.
