Gun Jumping with D&D

Apr 15, 2006 22:09

So apparently I jumped the gun on moving forward the action. I did not mean to rush people on voting, I just wasn;t seeing much in the way of discussion or planning. So here is the deal. I will wait until Monday night to continue the action while you all decide on the correct course of events ( Read more... )

I've abandoned my pursuit of horse #3 and returned to the wagon and to my half-elf form. I will be able to help repair the wagon, but I don't have Shape Wood learned (or memorized or prepared or whatever the correct term is) for today, so we would have to camp here before I would be of much assistance ( ... )

Ana's time of prayer is at dusk each day. To make the best use of her spells, she wishes to apply all of her healing to all those in need prior to her nightly meditation period during which she will pray and gird herself with spells appropriate to the mission of retrieval that lies before the group. She asks each member for their health status in order to cast her spells for their healing.

I took no damage, so I'm a picture of health.

"I agree that we have the time to mount a short attempted recovery; however I am deeply concerned about the safety of doing so. Clearly we cannot take the remainder of the cavaran with us, which means we much either divide our forces, or leave the wagon unguarded. Although there is some sort of camp nearby, we do not know if it is the only such camp, or how many raiders may be there or other locations nearby. Even if there are no additional raiders--which I doubt, since the fleeing raider's comment indicates they are not working alone--it is possible that our attackers have remained in an alternate plane for the moment, we would find the camp empty but for the fled horses, and when we returned it would be to find that they had returned to our plane, taken the rest of the caravan in our absence, and vanished. Then we would have nothing to deliver to the Queen and no way of tracking them, failing the people of Deeping Fast utterly ( ... )

Oulah stares around at you all as you make your comments and present your opinions about what to do as regards the bandits. When he seems to puzzle out of the complicated speech that Zaneak thinks the delivery of part of a cargo will do any good, he gurgles up a choking laugh and shakes his head. "Need all, or no food..." Oulah looks at you each in turn and points to where he came back from tracking the fleeing horse, "close", he points at the to caravaneers and grinds out "They can stay, metal is heavy, hide metal? hide..*at this point he taps the wagon wheel and kicks sand over a broken piece of the wagon, to show that yes, sand can cover things, this seems to please him*" Oulah heaves a noncommittal shrug and walks a little way away from the discussion, plops down looking out at the desert. Oulah's wolf has placed its muzzle on his leg, and he is gently stroking the wolfs neck.

"You believe this queen to be incompetent? By all accounts the materials from Deeping Fast are strategically important to the kingdom. If given the remainder of the caravan as evidence that the people of Deeping Fast are acting in good faith, our account of the attacks, and our assurance that the bandits would be eliminated before the next tribute caravan, she still chose to abandon this important resource, it would be an act of folly!"

"As for leaving the caravaneers, it is as good as leaving the caravan undefended. If there were another attack, they would simply be killed as they would have been without our presence during the first attack. And when the raiders can take the remainder of the cavaran in a matter of minutes, if not seconds, a six-hour journey might as well be days."

(What exactly remains of the caravan? I assume some of the other camels that were not taken have cargo as well)

Time remaining before starvation at deeping fast, less travel time both ways (Normal conditions): 90 hours

Time lost to wagon repair and impaired travel time: 48 hours

Remaining free-time: 52 Hours

Original Contents of Caravan:
3 camels of mixed gemstones, 6 camels of food, 8 camels of water, two wagons of copper, one wagon of gold

Current Contents of Caravan:
4 camel's food, 5 camels of water, one wagon copper, one wagon-load of copper, one wagon gold

The missing camels were either stolen (six camels) or scattered by the storm and lost(two camels).

Current Time: 4pm (3 useful hours remain in the day)

If there are any other questions, please do not hesitate to communicate with me.

(So we are to take your original claim that the now-damaged wagon was "the only one in the caravan, loaded with bronze ingots" to be lies and slander? ;) Assuming we partially repair the damaged wagon, that brings us back to the original three wagons (i.e., the third wagon-load of copper isn't actually gone.), correct?)

Nevermind the latter. I have learned to read.

In fact, originally there were no wagons. However, in the first round of actions, people started interacting with them and I decided to add them in. Kind of an organically grown universe. It is tricky to wrangle this whole multiverse thing when I get one giant post a day to communicate the universe. And if I let you guys generate the scenery you need that saves the trouble of a lot of back and forth posting (ie. "Are there any candles?" "No" "Torches?" "no" "I'll light a torch then." "...did I neglect to mention trhat we are in a cave full of water?")

Anyhow, the moral is, my bad, run with what is most recent and I will try to keep things consistant in the future.
