Screaming…

The sound of wheels that scraped the asphalt concrete…

The squeaking sound of four circles that were pushed to be stopped…

Another screaming…

The world turned somersaulted…

Sound of the crowd…

Smell of petrol…

Short, desperate breathing…

“Ma… saki… a-re you… o-ka…”

The sentence that would never be finished…

And…

The smell of blood…

His body jerked as his eyes opened wide in sudden, only to find himself underneath a white plain ceiling. His head felt heavy, same goes to his body. It’s like someone is lying above him…
Sore…
Numb…
Where am I…?

A pair of eyes looked back at him, the owner was wearing a white coat and has a stethoscope hanged on the neck. Doctor…? So… This is… Hospital…? The doctor’s eyes were unreadable as his firm hand brushed over the lying chest and stomach. “Aiba-san? Can you hear me?”

Aiba nodded. Slowly he could feel his body back. He tried to move every part of his body to at least make sure nothing broken but hissed when he felt the pain on his ankle. A question reflected from his eyes; “Your ankle sprained. It just a minor injury, no worries”

No…

That’s not it…

He tried to open his mouth and talk but no voice came out. Yet, the doctor did understand his unspoken words. “I’m sorry Aiba-san… I will escort you to meet them in a while…”

The doctor pushed the wheelchair along the empty hallway. Everything looked dark and cold, that was the reason he hate hospital so much. Everything’s so white, so saddening… so… lonely… But after all, if he needed to be hospitalized along with other members because of the accident, Aiba thought it would not be that bad… At least he won’t be alone, counting the patterns on blanket.

They passed the patient rooms one by one, one door to another until the wheelchair stopped in front of a metallic silver door. A male nurse was waiting there just to open the door for Aiba and the doctor. A wide grin plastered the miracle boy of Arashi’s face until the wheelchair stopped in the middle of the room. It was a wide and empty room, or almost empty actually because they just placed four stretchers in it, with white cloth covered body on each.

Aiba turned his head to the doctor, confusion written all over his face. What the hell is this? It’s not even funny…

“I’m sorry Aiba-san… We had tried our best… I’m really sorry… We were unable to save them…” the doctor said with tone of sympathize.

Now… This is funny… Really… Really funny…

A minute of silence until a creepy weird laugh slipped from Aiba’s lips. It was even louder with the more seconds passed. This doctor must be insane…

A hurtful expression plastered the doctor’s face as he grasped on Aiba’s shoulder to calm him down. Aiba pushed the reassuring hands until the doctor crushed to the wall and screamed with all his might, “TAKE YOUR WORD BACK! TAKE YOUR WORD BACK STUPID DOCTOR!!”

He laughed again as he covered his face with palms. This is not true… this is just a nightmare… so you better wake up fast, Masaki… FASTER!!

But he was still there, shivering because his own laugh, battling with this irrational condition. The doctor stayed on his place when Aiba rose up, stumbled as he walked to the nearest stretcher, his laugh now sounded like painful shriek as he reached the cloth with trembling hands. He dropped the cloth immediately when he saw a familiar face that covered with it. Sho’s face was there… Pale, cold, almost looked like he was sleeping peacefully, just without breath… nor the warmth, nor the snore of his…

Aiba choked when the tears started to flood his face, “NO!! SHO-CHAN!!! NO!!”

He shook the lifeless body vigorously, “WAKE UP SHO CHAN!! WAKE UP!!”

But his friend’s eyes will never open again, nor answer Aiba’s despair cries. The poor boy turned and pulled another cloth just to find Matsujun’s pale face below it, “NO!! NOOO!!”

“NO!!” he turned around and fell on the ground right after the stinging pain of his ankle, “NO!!”

No matter how many times he repeated ‘no’, no matter how many times he screamed the names of his beloved members, not even think to stop though his throat felt so hurt, but… None of them give him a hug and comfort him like always, no one came to help… no one… none of them… It was ended with a painful gasp, when the darkness drowned him to the deepest emptiness…

It was a normal day in Arashi green room. Sho was preparing for Zero, Nino and Ohno were playing sumo on the corner of room or literally they were playing the so called sumo while trying to touch every part of each other’s body, while Jun was reading the script for his new drama, that was when Aiba entered the room, brought a piece of paper with him.

“Guys!” he called out, asking for attention from his band mates, but as usual, no one really paying attention to him. He pouted and snatched Sho’s papers and Matsujun’s script while glaring at them.

“What?! Aiba!” Matsujun snapped as he tried to reach his script back. Sho frowned to him but gave in, not trying to get his papers back.

“Listen to me…”

“No!” Matsujun cut him fast and started to struggle with the boy to get his script back. Sho pulled his t-shirt from the back until he settled back on the couch. “You are on his side?!” Jun glared at him, unsatisfied.

“Just stay still, it won’t be long. Right… Masaki?” he emphasized the younger given name on purpose while Aiba nodded, his smile grew wider. He pulled the Arashi’s leader who pulled Nino along, and pushed both to the sofa.

“So, what is it?” Sho asked him again, partly because he really wanted to get over this faster and back to his papers.

Aiba lifted his hand and shoved them a piece of paper. “Let’s drive here! It’s been so long since we go somewhere for vacation and it’s summer! Let’s go to the beach! Yay!”

Silence…

“Oh, c’mon! We never really take break for at least eight years! We need a vacation!”

“You just wasted two minutes of my time, Aiba!” Nino commented as he took out beloved DS from his bag.

“What’s wrong with vacation?”

Jun snorted, “There is nothing wrong with vacation. The only thing that’s wrong in here is your head! Now give me back my script!”

Aiba glared at him with a stubborn pout, “I know we all are free tomorrow afternoon, so I will wait! If no one come I will drive alone!” he threw the script book to Jun’s head and make the youngest cursed him loudly.

Aiba sat inside his car the next day as he glanced to his watch, five minutes before his departure time. He couldn’t believe that none of them come and almost cried when he heard someone opened his door. “Masaki, Nino will drive, move to backseat!”

Sho smiled to him as he hang on the front door, Aiba exited the car with a wide grin. Nino took his place in the driver side while Ohno positioned himself at the front passenger seat. Aiba was sandwiched between Sho and Jun. He started to sing and got some glares from Nino, who told him that he was being annoyingly noisy. Aiba was too happy to take Nino’s word to his heart and keep singing like nothing happen. It was until they saw someone was crossing the street without even bother to check the traffic first. Nino cursed and turned the wheel to the right. A flashed of light blurred their vision as the loud sound of squealing tires and crushing tear the silent night.

Aiba felt something crushed on his chest as he started to feel short of breath and losing conscious, he then felt someone’s hand grabbed his fingers weakly from his left, Sho…

“Ma… saki… a-re you… o-ka…”

“NO!” Aiba’s hand gripped to the sofa while he tried to breathe dearly. The dream of the accident haunted him every time he closed his eyes, which made him not getting any sleep at all since that day, not like he intended to get one. The headache started to attack his head, he frowned as saying slowly, “Matsujun… do you have painkiller? I have a headache…”

Silence…

A tear streamed down his cheek when he realized Matsujun would not answer him anymore. He bit his lips so hard to replace the stinging pain until he could taste his own blood.

Why did it have to be happened on them?

Why did they leave him alone?

Why didn’t he just die with others?

Why didn’t they bring him along?

Why didn’t he think of any better idea than driving to the beach…?

It can be anything…

Anything…

Partying at his place…

Eating yakiniku together…

Anything… anything but driving to the beach…

It was his fault…

His fault that bring all members to the end of their lives…

He killed them… he killed his best friends…

He killed them…

Aiba cried… cried because of his lost, cried because of his guilt… cried because it felt like he died together with Nino, Ohno, Jun and Sho. He couldn’t do anything… He couldn’t turn back the time, couldn’t bring them back, couldn’t laugh with them anymore, couldn’t feel Sho’s hug whenever he feel down, nor Jun’s pat when he is sad, nor Ohno’s comforting gaze, not to mention Nino’s brat-care advice. Nothing… nothing but himself…

He cried because he is nothing without them…

He felt nothing… nothing but the pain in his heart…

Aiba stared at his wrist although his sight getting blurry, he smiled when the red liquid dripped and colored the clean white floor, taking his consciousness away… slowly…
Please don’t leave me alone… Take me with you…

“Masaki…” he heard his name was being called when he opened his eyes slowly, closed immediately because his eyes were not used to the bright light. Someone patted his head lightly and he smiled because he knew that hand. He knew the owner of that hand.

“Sho-chan…” he caught the hand and placed it to his cheek as the other hand smacked his head lightly. Slowly he opened his eyes again and found Jun was looking at him.

“Matsujun…” The youngest of Arashi smiled to him when Aiba threw himself to the other’s embrace. Jun patted his back slowly to comfort him.

“You are stupid, Aiba!” a guy stood behind Jun’s and smirked to him, “Oh, it’s not even news anymore…”

Aiba’s cries getting harder and harder as he reached for Nino’s hand, “Nino… Nino…”

The younger expression was softened as he held Aiba’s hand. Aiba looked around and felt relieve when he saw Ohno sat besides Jun and smiled to him. “Riida… I miss you…”

Ohno nodded, “I miss you too, Aiba-chan…”

“I miss all of you guys…” he cried harder and started to wet Jun’s shirt, the usual Jun would probably mad if he did that but the current Jun just hugged him tighter without saying anything. It felt like eternity for Aiba till Jun let him go from his embrace.

“So, I’m dead?” he asked innocently, his hope to be together with other members has risen up.

Sho chuckled, “No, I don’t think so…”

“But I want to!”

“That’s obvious you idiot! You slitted your wrist!” Nino spurted out madly.

“Don’t do that again, Aiba-chan…” Ohno patted his head softly, “It’s not good you know…”

“So, don’t leave me alone!” he whined.

“It’s not like we want to leave you alone…” Sho caressed his cheeks to wipe his tears away.

“That accident happened because I pushed you guys to go to the beach… I’m sorry…” he started to cry again when Sho brought him to his embrace and caressed his hair slowly.

“Shhh… It’s not… Don’t blame yourself…”

“And don’t cry, you look ugly, you know?” Aiba’s giggles mixed with his sob after he heard Nino’s comment about him, how he missed Nino…

“I love you, Nino…”

Nino smirked as he answered, “Sorry, if your feeling will grow to be one sided love.”

“Now Aiba… you have to go back…”

He looked at Jun as his eyes grow wider, “Where?”

“You know you are not supposed to be here…”

“No! I don’t want to go back!” he gripped Sho’s shirt tightly.

“Aiba-chan… Isn’t your family will hurt lots if you choose to be here?” Ohno grasped his hand tenderly, “It’s hurting people who we love… Aiba-chan… if you are alive, at least we can leave in peace, because we know… you will take care of people that we love…”

“But…”

“Masaki… Imagine how worry is your mom at the moment…” Sho smiled to him and nodded.

“But I don’t want to be alone…”

“Well, you will never be alone…” Nino snorted, “We are always here!” he palmed Aiba’s left chest.

“Forever…” added Jun while patted his head to reassure. Aiba threw himself between Sho and Jun to hug them and cried again like there is no tomorrow. The two caressed his back together as Ohno and Nino joined the party in seconds, they hugged the crying Aiba tightly.

“I-lo…lo-ve… You all…” he whispered between his sobs.

“We love you too, Aiba-chan…” he felt Ohno’s breath tickled his nape while hearing the whisper.

~*~

Aiba’s eyes opened once more and found a pair of familiar eyes looking at him, “Masaki!”

He felt warm liquid dripped on his neck when his mom hugged him tightly, “I’m sorry, mom…” he hugged his mother with his uninjured arm, “I’m sorry…”

Aiba managed to get back to almost-normal life; he gathered back his courage to start his activity again after months in sorrow. Of course, it’s impossible for this fellow to not cry, nor missing beloved members whenever he got a chance. It’s impossible to get over his sadness completely, neither to forget about them… But they had promised to themselves to be on the top someday, and Aiba promised to himself that he would be on top for them, to make their dream comes true. Whenever he closed his eyes he would imagine Nino, Ohno, Jun and Sho gather around him and smiled; and whenever he feels lonely… He will touch his left chest, feel his heartbeat, and whispered to himself, “I am not alone…”
