Castle 4x03

Castle

Sooooo... I wasn't as impressed with this ep as I was the first two eps. The only thing that really impressed me was the Alexis storyline.

-Okay, I KNEW that Alexis wouldn't get into Stanford. How else would she stay on the show? But also because it gives her character growth. Like Castle said, she's always gotten everything she's ever worked for and to suddenly realize that all her plans come crashing down around her is a HUGE blow. Rejection sucks, but like Castle said, it also shows how far you've come. Every time I failed at something, I always felt the same way -- hurt, crushed, completely worthless. But I got over it and it'll be interesting to see how Alexis will handle it. She can apply to other schools, there are plenty of Ivy Leagues on the East Coast anyway and other excellent colleges. Move on, or continue on the path just taking a slightly different road to get there. That's what I'm doing now anyway. Of course if Alexis goes in some kind of downward spiral a la House, then I'm not sure that'll be as interesting to watch.

-The case was kinda... bleh to me. Not as thrilling, not as funny, not as interesting. Yes, not having a body is hard to solve a case, but in the end it almost felt like an episode of Fringe with the body snatchers and cryonics and severed heads but without the crazy shapeshifters and the reattaching of heads to the body.

-This love til eternity thing is... weird. Okay, I'm Mormon and even I find that weird considering we believe in the same thing (love and marriage for eternity). Maybe because I just can't buy that whole regeneration thing. I guess I shouldn't say much since this was science's way of explaining religion in a weird way. But I just couldn't understand it. Maybe because I haven't experienced that all consuming love where I'd get to the point and pull out a Romeo and Juliet? Idk.

-Beckett is a closet romantic. While this season may be all about secrets, it's also about Beckett opening herself up to Castle. She admits when she's wrong, she smiles a whole heck of a lot more than she ever did the past three seasons and she's seeing Castle grow up. I do love that they both agree that the Hamilton's make it. It looks like she's putting herself out there little by little, throwing little nuggets at Castle to see how he'll respond, almost like she's testing him.

-Beckett joked about her boobs with Castle. I actually LOL'd at that. And at Castle's face when she knew who ran the College Girls Gone Wild porn business.

-All in all, decent ep, not a stand out one. Maybe it's because Castle didn't smile enough or tell enough of his lame jokes.

***POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR THE NEXT EP BASED OFF THE PROMO. DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SLIGHTLY SPOILED***

So it looks like the next ep is all about Ryan. I seems like the 3XK killer is back and framing Ryan. Or someone else is framing Ryan for the kill. SO COOL.

NOT.

BECAUSE THAT WAS MY EFFING IDEA FOR NANOWRIMO THIS YEAR.

I've been rewatching Castle from the pilot all the way up to the current ep with my cousins because I told them they NEEDED to watch this show so I could flail with them and they agreed. Got hooked. We're all caught up. So during the re-watch, I got the idea to pick up on the 3XK storyline after watching that ep. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Ryan and I wanted to do more with him, so I decided that he'll have a huge role in my NaNo fic this year (I had already decided to do Castle earlier -- it was either that or Lie to Me, jury's still out on that one). I was going to have the 3XK killer frame Ryan for something. Um, guess I can't anymore. Not original. But I'm willing to wait it out, watch the ep and adjust from there. After all, this could have NOTHING to do with the 3XK killer and... I just gave my plot away.

Whatever.

I'm just a little peeved about that. But I'm SUPER EXCITED at the same time because it's an ep about RYAN. WE HAVEN'T HAD THAT YET. Well, we saw his proposal to Jenny, but we haven't had one that's about him specifically. We've had one with Esposito with that ep about his dead-but-not-dead partner Ike Thornton, so I'm hoping for an exciting ep with Ryan. He's my fav of the boys (other than Castle, obviously).
