The morning of 10 August, in Andover, while packing:

I turned on NPR and caught a narration of the Prodigal Son. The broadcast struck a tender chord because I compare my London life to this parable. Why "much-despised bendy bus"? Despite their trickiness if you're standing on its swiveling mechanism, bendy buses are terrific; you don't even have to swipe your Oyster card. It's quite a nice way of getting around London for free.

You probably realize fare evasion is the biggest point of contention about bendy buses. Otherwise, I object to them on aesthetic grounds: their proportions are too elongated.
