I might be shaping into an art historian. Temple is excellent. Lonely research and a public job foil each other. Tuesday, I gave my first serious presentation, which addressed the west front of Wells cathedral. still reading, still interested to hear what you're up to.

working for the internet and all, i can tell you that the Neuromancer-esque days of downloading our selves to/from the internet are probably a long way off. Tech tends to go after the low-hanging fruit, though the industry does innovate rapidly (I mean, who would have envisioned a culture so addicted to smartphones in 2005?)

I read this too! it's nice to hear that your transition to academia is going well so far, and I hope that continues. the internet is a strange dwelling place for us in the 21st century. facebook has quietly introduced a new feature called "see friendship" which pools all the things it knows about two people who know each other onto a page. if you do it for one of your slight acquaintances, it's a little weird--if you do it an actual close friend, it's kind of eerie. and yet there's so much it leaves out.
