Well, I just saw Akira for the first time... and really, I was rather unimpressed. I suppose I may have been expecting too much out of it, but then again, I honestly had no idea what TO expect. The impressive thing about Akira is that for its time it was incredibly innovative and just amazing.

Looking at it now animation has far surpassed what Akira is, but "back in the day" Akira was the epitome of "incredibly awsome animation."

Oh sure, the animation was great... but I was more talking about the storyline and such. It really didn't make all that much sense. I was able to follow the plot but still... strange.
