Well... I was playing Diablo II today... and I logged on with my level 71 hardcore paladin. And I join a Baal run game... and I appear in act 1... so I head to act V... instead of going to the town, I head straight into the Worldstone keep... and after loading... More like a month update... but whatever... Fanime Con was decent... sleeping and driving my own car made the con much more enjoyable. My external firewire drive is dead. All 45 gigs of data are locked onto the hard drive with no way for me to get them off. I did some checking around... and it turns out that it is indeed the drive itself that's broken.
