it's a bit of a conversation for me, but what it comes down to is scare factor. vampires, werewolfs, they are scary stuff, but there aren't that many of them and they hunt differently. zombies however, are a mass of creatures that will eat you...slowly. also, i've always been more afraid of things that moved slowly. sure i couldn't outrun most monsters out there, but since i already knew that, there wasn't much hope anyway. but zombie, they make you think you can get away, but there's always more of them.
