... well, just as long as you didn't turn big & green and smash everything else in the room, that's what important.
Ergh, it's painful though, I know. If you at least can, see if someone can burn you an image of a Knoppix CD or DVD (or whatever the kids are using these days for a live Linux disc). When my hard drive went on the fritz a few years back, that's what allowed me to boot the computer up and still use everything else on it, at least until I could get things properly solved. [Also helps to have a thumb drive to save system settings, any documents you make, & what-else-have-you.]

It really wasn't too painful, the computer was less than a month old. We just replaced the hard-drive. Computer death is life.
