So is this a clue to something? The doctor still hasn't figured out or become who he is. he is the doctor, but he isn't yet THE Doctor.

Um ... interesting analysis... I don't really agree with much except it became so evident and so unbearably obvious that the Doctor wasn't human. It was like Trick or Treat, with Derren Brown, you know? One of those psychological experiments... In DW Confidential, they delve a little more into what actually happens and why the Doctor gets the way he does. (And talks about the other time he was companionless.) It's because Donna wasn't there to give him street cred. He's a bit gauche, isn't he? I mean, he swears he knows all about humans, but the only way he fits in is if he actually becomes one, à la Human Nature.

You're right, though. The more he claimed to be clever, the less he became...

Total props to DT for acting his ass off... I never cease to be amazed by him!
