He had been broken, betrayed, his heart ripped out of his chest and stomped upon. So he kept everyone at arms length. He didn’t trust as easily as he used to. He was afraid. He was afraid of feeling that pain again.
Selene wanted nothing to do with him. She detested every inch of him. Erika worshiped him. She adored and kissed the very ground he walked upon. Yet he kept pushing her away. It became the same routine with them, abuse, love, abuse, sex, more abuse, and tears. Still Erika kept coming back like wounded puppy, willing to curl up by her master’s feet.
Kraven looked up from the text he was studying and over at Erika who was brushing out her long blonde hair by the window. The moonlight shone through and bathed her body in a soft, white light. She looked like a little angel with her blonde hair cascading down her back and shoulders and the white see through nightgown she was wearing. He had been afraid to open his heart to the love she held for him because he had opened his heart once and it had been crushed. Perhaps it was time for him to try again.
“Erika, come here,” he said softly.
Erika sat her brush down and walked over to him.
“Was I distracting you?” she asked.
“No,” he replied, taking hold of her arm and pulling her into his lap.
She was a bit surprised by his actions. She couldn’t remember him ever being tender with her.
“Stay with me tonight,” he told her.
Erika smiled softly and gave him a gentle kiss.
“Of course, I would never leave you,” she replied.
And at that moment, his fear of loving again was gone.
