[The feed opens up to a rushing sound: wind, maybe, present but not so loud that it covers her voice. She's been watching the network, the comings and goings of Nuadoria's inhabitants, and isn't sure she likes what she sees]So this place, what, recycles its hostages? One person vanishes and another pops up, like the first person's flavor wasn't

I don't know, you seem rather sweet to me. Delectable, really.
I may be wrong.~

I'm of a non-digestible quality.

[There's a pause, and he suddenly sounds a bit more normal.]
...Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if acid rained from the skies at this rate.

Then we'll all drown in acid. It'll be an acid party, and we'll hold hands and sizzle.
Does that sound fun?

Not quite. That's a bit too boring way for most to expire, wouldn't you say? There should be meaning and fireworks in the end, or at the very least, something a bit more livening.
What's the way you'd want to go out in the end? If you have the choice.

[She shakes her head; this kid was morbid, but there was enough child in him to interest and draw her in]
I've got no chance of dying peacefully in my sleep, far as I can tell. So I guess getting my head blown off mid-battle or being blown up is as good as anything. Why, are you already plotting your own super-awesome death?

[Interesting, interesting. No chance of a peaceful slumber? Curious, yet he shan't yet give away all his cards. He laughs instead.]
Blown off mid-battle--now, that would be entertaining! I've done it a few times; it's good for the reactions at least. And not at all! I'm just bored, as always.~

[There's a considerable pause during which she debates asking; Max knows she doesn't want to know, but the curiosity of the young always wins]
You've blown off...other people's heads? [Were there so many murderers walking freely? This oddly enchanting--if highly deranged--boy couldn't be that unhinged. She hoped] I'll steer clear next time you get the urge.

[He laughs in response, amused at her deduction. He supposed that made sense, as well, probably more than the truth, at any rate. His response is perfectly cheery.]
No need to concern yourself. It wasn't to others, not like that. I've only done that to myself.

[Each question she'd asked so far only revealed more, and she sifted through the half dozen things she wanted to ask now. Curiosity could only go so far without dumping her in a maze]
Shock value at its finest.
You said you've done it several times. Let me guess, hyper-regenerative abilities?

[Oh, he's thought it before--with the game before, and with her remarks now, but he'll reiterate: Oh, he so does like her. Perhaps his preconceptions on the female species were wrong, if they were as bright as the few he'd met here.~]
Mm, quite! An infinite telomerase for absolute regeneration. Is it something familiar to you?
Reply
Not on that advanced a scale. The stuff I'm used to looks like child's play next to regenerating a frickin' bullet hole to the head.
Reply
Au contraire; it's a bit more than that. I've been without a head entirely, and reduced to nothing but particles once. I said absolute-- A bullet is but a toy, in the end.

[She could guess a small part of why this boy was so demented, then; at once Max was hit with horror and envy--not at the prospect of living forever, but being able to accomplish what needed to be without death getting in the way. Still, how undesirable to live on without loved ones]
So you're immortal. How's that goin' for you?

The boy hums with amusement.]
A bit repetitive. Somewhat dull. But there's potential.
